Cracked screen, should I panic?
Why is it that whenever I buy a bike there is always something broken that I missed on initial inspection? I’ve noticed a couple of cracks emanating from one of the securing bolt holes on the screen. Is this a common issue? Or do I assume the previous owner was just heavy handed? IMG_5860.jpeg I’ve ...

Re: CarPlay screen
I thought of buying a C5 for my bike instead of a dedicated satnav, but I keep thing about battery life on my iphone. Do you know if connected to c5 carplay, the navication part of the carplay doesn't drain you phone battery in no time? Good question. I don’t have any empirical data yet but initial...

Final update CarPlay screen It lives!
So, my original plan to use blocks of Nylon 6 didn’t really work for me. The basic problem was trying to offset the mounting of the CarPlay to allow it to fit the original location of BMW Satnav. IMG_5823.jpeg Plan B is to make use of some aluminium box section. This allows me to offset the bike att...

Headlight protector
I’ve just received and fitted my headlight protector this morning. The R&G screen fits the contours of the headlight very well, but, is it me or do the white Velcro tabs look wrong? I would have thought black ones would look better.

Re: CarPlay screen story so far
Update on my current quest. Thanks to Sakm and Totaled TL for the suggestions of sourcing a socket; I got a cheap one from eBay. I removed the windshield to get access to the plastic satnav mounting surround. I then removed the charging pin block which exposed the four location holes that just so ha...

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Yesterday I took a chance on the mixed weather, we always experience this time of year in the UK, and ventured out on the RTLC. I’d only covered a couple of hundred miles since I purchased it in December and thought a trip out on some familiar roads would help me get to grips with the bike. The alte...

Re: CarPlay screen
Sorry, another follow up… Before I start dismantling, can anyone tell me whether there is a ‘safe’ switched 12v circuit I can connect to, behind the satnav/clock/ righthand speaker area? Is it possible to determine which of the multi pin socket, intended for a Satnav, could be utilised? Sorry for th...

Re: CarPlay screen
The C5 CarPlay display arrived today and it looks identical to the one that Sakm received and posted about last Autumn. IMG_5738.jpeg It seems to connect to my phone very quickly and functions very well but the engineer in me wants to see if I can secure it in the Satnav location and hide a switched...

CarPlay screen
After reading Sakm’s post about his adventure with the CarPlay C5 display I did some of my own digging on EBay. At the moment the following unit is going for £111 GBP, with discount code, and I thought it was worth a punt. I thought I would post this while I wait for it to arrive because it’s a limi...

Re: Cracked Titanium Weld
I find it a bit rich that Akrapovič have simply washed their hands of this fault and said it was OE and therefore for BMW to sort out. Whose name is on the exhaust? Unless they are saying a product shipped to BMW is of a different quality, they should stand by their product irrelevant of how it got ...

Re: Potential R1200RT Owner
Welcome. The R1200RT is quite tall. There is a lot of bike to keep hold of and although I can put the soles of my boots down on both sides I felt I wanted a bit more security ( I am roughly 5’ 11”). I purchased this lowering set from eBay. IMG_1101.jpeg I assumed I could set the eccentric cam rubber...

Tankbag trouble
R1200RT LC. What’s the deal with getting a reasonably sized (10 Ltrs plus) Tankbag that doesn’t restrict the turning arc of the bars? I’ve got a Givi Tanklocked Tankbag and even after adjusting the locking ring mount to its maximum, still hits the switchgear! Looking at the space available between t...
