BMW Insured Warranty

Had the extended warranty/roadside on my 2016 RT for 2 years now so far on its 2nd set of chrome headers,1 quickshifter and a complete beveldrive and swing arm,also 1 roadside assist(flat battery)and included a lovely 3 series M Sport estate for the use of courtesy of Enterprise,so in my eyes its well worth the £350.00

Paying £35 per month for 7 months is £245, plus an excess of £100. With BMW labour rates alone being around £100 per hour, it's an annual cost I'm prepared to risk spending.

If I don't use it all well & good, if I do use it, won't take much to go wrong to rack up £345 in repair bills.

Just can't see the point in paying for it at the moment when not using the bike. Will review it again as & when we get the all clear to go out.

Im having to use mine for work at the moment,which isn't really a bad thing with the roads being so quiet,,even more so at 4.00am

If an annual policy has been purchased recently, as with all insurances, you get a 14 day "cooling off" period where the policy can be cancelled with a full refund.

After that, annual policies can be cancelled with a pro rata refund, less a £25 admin fee.

               BMW Motorrad have now extended the service schedules by 3months and 1200 miles beyond the due date and extended warranties expiring in this period to June 30th.

Have spoken to the warranty sales team too. They have confirmed that BMW are offering customers a payment holiday of 60 days. What this means for me is that I can re-start the policy within the 60 days with immediate cover. Won't have to wait the normal month for the policy to start.

The 60 days will expire at the end of May. I do not wish to re-start the policy on 1st June. Have posed the question, "what happens if the policy isn't renewed, will I have to wait a month for cover or will the policy be effective immediately".

BMW couldn't answer the question and said they would have to refer it to the underwriters. The Warranty is provided by AWP Assistance UK Ltd (trading as BMW Motorrad Insured Warranty Services). Found some contact details for Allianz-Assistance, https://www.allianz-assistance.co.uk/help-and-advice/contact-us.html Rang them on 0345 600 2205, awaiting a call back to confirm what the situation with renewal will be.

Thought it might be worth posting the details here for future reference, just in case BMW try to fob you off.

Should I choose to re-start the Warranty, Allianz-Assistance have agreed to extend the immediate cover option for a further 60 days. This will take me up to around the end of July. It's likely that I may not use the bike until mid July for the RT meet, assuming it goes ahead.

That is the result I was looking for, happy days.

Re-started my warranty today with immediate effect, £35 per month inc. £100 excess for warranty & breakdown cover.

Have a 14 day cooling off period, could always cancel it after the RT meet.

Including Roadside Assistance with a £100 Excess, the "Monthly Pay As You Go" premium is £35.00 per month, hasn't gone up!

I might pay the first instalment on Monday 1st March 2021, to be effective from 1st April 2021.

7 payments will get me through to the end of October 2021.
