    Headlight Protector
    « on: 2020-06-17 14:43:11 »

Updated my nav 6 and tried to learn more mysterious ways and secrets of base camp :nenau

Then my ordered headlight protector for the 1250RT arrived, the white velcro fastenings really jump out so used some black ones I already had, looks much better:thumb

Noticed even after only 3500 miles plastic headlight lens already picking up marks, polished back to new look and the protector will prevent any further "Sand blasting" also of course may save hundreds of pounds if something heavier hits it.

Nippy Normans supplied £29 Free P&P (think I bagged the last one for now, more on order)

Worth having, although I'm not bothered about the white fastenings. I have had one destroyed by a stone and know of one of my mates, who has taken a crack to his headlamp - £800 to replace apparently

I've also stepped on one when I took it off to wash the bike. So on my third now :)

I got one as well a little while ago. Whilst washing the bike noticed a small chip on the headlight and figured better safe than sorry. I thought the white attachments looked OK on mine although mine were not Velcro, not sure of the correct name of what I got, I know it as pedal board tape. small plastic mushrooms - far stronger than Velcro/Hook & Loop

The Nippy Normans Headlight Shield, https://www.nippynormans.com/r1200rt-2010-to-2013/headlight-shield-for-bmw-r1200rt-lc-r1250rt
is supplied with transparent 3M™ Dual Lock™ pads.

This creates a 4mm gap between the headlight and the shield. The gap may be required because of the heat given off from the headlight bulbs.

When I switched from a 2010 to 2012 Camhead, NN sent me some replacement pads to attach to the new headlight.

                  3M™ Dual Lock™.

That's the stuff, know by guitarists as pedal board tape

The Headlight Shield direct from R&G is more than twice the price it is from NN, https://www.rg-racing.com/browsetype/Headlight_Shields/BMW/R1200RT/HLS0016CL/#prettyPhoto

My headlight shield has black adhesive film (plus a couple of vignettes) stuck to it.

It is only fitted when driving in a RHD country to convert/mask off the LHD headlight setting.

Prior to this, I stuck the black adhesive film directly to the headlight, it was a nightmare to get off.

Check out those tyres, Michelin Pilot Road 1, not approved and in Germany.

Well all mine have been from Nippy Normans and the attachments are white. At a push you could say transparent, but if they were transparent you wouldn't be able to see them, and I can see mine, so they are white

Yep worth having.  Had a stone flick off mine earlier this week.

Fit mine today. Think I prefer the pads that came with it. Managed to polish out a couple of chips to almost invisible.
