Re: BMW advising exhaust valve sticking needing new headers at £1200+
[quote author=Casbar Sounds like you may have another issue going on :) Yes you are right you still hear the servo click, but its not doing anything as it can't go through its full cycle. Possibly, I just posted some info for the benefit of other owners. Not had the fuse error since I freed up the f...

Re: BMW advising exhaust valve sticking needing new headers at £1200+
Just from personal experience recently, I have a 2014 Rt, the exhaust flap had been squeaking for a while on ‘ignition on’ but then stopped. Last week fired up the bike, all was normal and went for a ride. Within a mile I had an engine management light and poor running so pulled up. Ignition off and...

2014 LC, right hand side switch gear replaced when the starter switch began to feel ‘crunchy’ when pressed. No other issues.

I use basecamp. Set a start and finish location and then add waypoints to interesting features. It was a struggle to start but ok now

Re: Mirror cap removal
The string stops you losing the mirror back should you bang it against something on the move (personal experience). The mirror back slides back on horizontally and clicks into place. Edit: took mine off and added some pictures. Fold the mirror back, hold the mirror back at the hinge end and pull awa...

Re: Side Stand Switch
Also with regard to the switches failing I investigated a fatal crash many years ago where the side stand switch activated whilst the machine was moving, cutting the engine and causing the machine to take a wider path on a right hand bend and ultimately a loss of control. Side stand was still in the...

Re: Side Stand Switch
It might have just failed to flick back to horizontal when the officer tried before setting off. I’ve just gone out to mine and from horizontal (position of rest) the side stand got to the position in the photo before the switch kicked in and cut the engine.

Re: Liquid stains behind display screen
I got my RT new in September 2014 and it had ‘condensation’ marks behind the display. At the time some folks managed to get them replaced under warranty but I just rode the bike and got used to it.
To be fair yours looks quite bad! I’ll post a pic of mine tomorrow for comparison.

Re: Another Satnav Lock Option?
Having a bit of time off lately I’ve fitted one of these to my RT, none audio so electrics went left side. No issues with fitting and really chuffed. I had considered the original mechanical lock but thought it looked a bit ‘industrial’.

I’ve spent the day painting the garage floor and then replacing the rubber matting.
I retired in the new year and have been setting up my business as an advanced car/bike trainer ready for the spring which has sadly fallen flat.
Gardening tomorrow! Stay safe folks

Re: Heated seat on an LC RT
On my 2014 there’s a 50A fuse for the voltage regulator,
a 15A fuse for instrument cluster, alarm, ignition lock, diagnostic socket and top case light,
and a 7.5A fuse for left multifunction switch, tyre pressure control and audio system.

Re: Heated seat on an LC RT
Last September on a euro tour I found neither heated seat would work and after a month of being back the battery failed. In the manual there is a fail safe where if there is insufficient power avaialble from the battery the seats won't work (page 77). It suggests there should be a battery warning sy...

Re: Brits Abroad 2020!
The sign above is not for a speed restriction, it relates to who has priority along the road, in this case traffic approaching a junction from the right will have priority and you will have to give way.
