Re: Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?
When the exhaust flap packs up, will BMW turn around and say, "sorry mate, you had the wrong silencer fitted". If they did then they would seriously need shooting. The exhaust valve failure has nothing to do with the silencer fitted. Thats actually funny. Sorry sir can't fix your exhaust ...

RTs4me when you lubed the spindle did you check for full free movement of the butterfly valve by removing the cables ? Just curious.

Re: Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?
I think if you don't want it to fail then it needs looking at when servicing the bike at 6K. At the very least once a year. If you are the sort of rider who SORNs the bike over winter then before putting it to bed, I would check the valve for free movement and squirt some WD40 or penetrating oil at ...

Re: Hello to you all.
Over the last 6 years, I have had two headlight protectors smashed by stones on two LCs. Not sure if that would have resulted in a smashed headlight though, but I bought my first protector when a mate of mine had a cracked headlight on this 2014 bike Me thinks it would have smashed your headlight. ...

Re: Hello to you all.
Maybe I was unlucky but imagine what a stone could do. I really don't know if a headlight protector would have made any difference but think its worth the gamble. It was a few years ago now and from memory the headlight unit cost about £620.

Re: Hello to you all.
Yes. Headlight protector. Very expensive to replace. This is what happens when I got hit by a pheasant.

You can do that in base camp, or have I miss understood what you are trying to do?
No I meant on the device. Planning on either Garmin or TomTom devices is not very easy. Planning anything other than something very straight forward requires computer software.

Re: Howz about a 1250 thread
Thats fine as far as it goes but you had a paper map to help. Also you created the route using place names. What I want is just to bend a route using waypoints. No can do. Take Google maps on your computer. Create a route by adding a destination. Want to change the way is goes. Easy. Click on route ...

Re: Howz about a 1250 thread
Will integrated motorcycle or car sat. nav's. ever be as good as or completely replace a dedicated GPS device. I know someone with a Garmin Zumo 660 who prefers it to any in-car offering he has had. That depends David on the execution of the design. We had a Mini Countryman with an integrated SatNa...

Re: Howz about a 1250 thread
That split view looks much better than the first. A clear split between bike and navigation. You don't need a large map for accurate navigation just very big clear turn information and distance to turn. Something that most navigation apps fail to do. I would suggest riding a motorbike you cannot aff...

Re: Howz about a 1250 thread
It's the opposite really, the Tft is far easier to read than the analogue clocks so you spend less time looking at it and more time watching the road. My 14 bike I have set centre display to digital speed. Its big and clear and that's all I need. So I see no difference there between mine and full T...

Re: Howz about a 1250 thread
David you are probably right. I have been reading about the TFT navigation because I think its the way to go instead of dedicated devices but the current implementation seems to be fraught with problems. I have got to an age now where I cannot be bothered with the hassle and that's from someone who ...

Re: Howz about a 1250 thread
IMHO they should have developed a device, call it a NAV VII or TFT Nav. It could be using the Android operating system and have a few Apps on it. We upload our routes to it and plug it into the USB port in the phone pocket. And it works when you buy the bike, it simply...

I think your comment is bang out of order and if this is the level of this forum I don’t think that I wish to remain! Teapot68 I agree Bob21 was out of order, he was trying to be humorous but it rather back fired. However it's quite rare on this forum unlike others I can think of. We all including ...
