Re: NW Spain

I have a KTM 1290 Super Adventure S on it's way to me. Chain drive, but it's a twin, and crucially 50 kilos lighter. I have a few bits to take off the RT, some for sale, some to give away, I'll list them in the next few days before disappearing into the ether. Cheers, Nick Thats one quick bike its ...

Re: Exhaust flapper valve does not cycle at ignition ON.

Has anyone checked the free movement on a new bike / replacement system ? This stupid valve should move freely but I wonder if it does out of the factory. However as you say if the problem persists then servo buddy thingy is the answer.

Re: Fuel prices

It's all a covert government scheme to make us buy electric vehicles. Yup when that happens the lights will go out. As the national grid is running at nearly maximum capacity now, imagine when X million motorists come home and plug in their cars. There really is is no joined up thinking. Sorry for ...

Re: Fuel prices

Not sure what the situation is in the US but here in UK 47% of the cost of a litre of fuel is taxation made up of duty and VAT. My question for the government is if you want to make a meaningful impact on the cost of living, slash the taxation on fuel. The cost of fuel is really driving up prices an...

Re: Puff of Smoke

I think Shell know a bit about producing a fuel that burns cleanly. It has a detergent in it and a lubricity agent. Cheap fuel leaves a gunk residue which gathers around the butterfly hinge and eventually impedes it functioning correctly. Next time you have the silencer off is the area around the v...

Re: Mesh jackets

Using a light waterproof jacket such as Scott are really useful over mesh jackets. As you say they are not just for when it rains but when its colder like first thing in the morning. A true jacket that flows lots of air cannot be waterproof as well so these light weight over jackets are essential.

Re: Mesh jackets

I can highly recommend this jacket from Rukka https://www.motolegends.com/motorcycle-jackets/rukka/rukka-forsair-pro-jacket-black.html The whole jacket is made from a loose weave material so the air flows through keeping you cool. I have the older version and it works better than any other jacket I ...

Re: Just ordered a Zumo XT, but the Adapters are out of stock

Been impressed with the XT it is streets ahead of the Nav V and VI. Transferring routes from apps like my route app is wi fi and seamless no cables, so it works well. Good to see the XT can get routes form a phone I am presuming via a GPX import into Garmin Drive App. I have used MyRoute Web planne...

Re: Just ordered a Zumo XT, but the Adapters are out of stock

Good to know that it is now fixed. Clever of you to diagnose and fix the problem. I have gone away from dedicated devices and use my iPhone with Scenic 3 for navigation. Works very well and is so easy to plan routes. I use https://www.nippynormans.com/gps-accessories/bmw-harness-to-female-usb-socket...

Re: Just ordered a Zumo XT, but the Adapters are out of stock

Here are some photos of how I fitted a TomTom mount for a Rider 550. Now removed and replaced by a Quadlock mount for my phone. Used sheet plastic to make the face plate and spacers. Last photo shows BMW plug that the Nippy's socket fits for switchable power.

Re: Torque Wrench

I always thought is was due to less friction on the lubed thread compared to the dry thread. Even when you tighten a bolt onto a contact surface the rotational force to tighten must be less if the threads are lubricated. I have always reduced the torque by 10% for greased threads and never had any p...

As far as I am aware there are only two positions low/high. Here are two photos of my seat in high on a 2014 LC bike.
