Re: Recall work

Just received recall letter for the foot pegs, no mention of anything else.
Called dealer for appointment, Mon 4 Dec, informed me that there are three recalls, check foot pegs, final drive and software update.
My 14 plate RT with 74k miles runs fine, we shall find out on Monday 4th.

Pannier Handle fails to lock

I am having a problem securing pannier onto bike. Placing pannier onto frame and closing the handle down to lock, the handle fails to close properly. I have had the top covers surrounding the handle off and inside all looks ok. Head tech at local dealer, checked that 'the pin sometimes pops out' but...

Re: Engine Corrosion

My 64 plate had engine replaced under warranty and no one mentioned new engine number or to notify DVLA. Now you have me wondering! Think I should investigate this further.

Re: Kick stand switch

Yes, there is a micro switch in the clutch lever assembly that may have failed. As mine has at the moment, bike must be in neutral before it will start.

Re: Pannier locking mechanism seems to be worn.

I have taken the covers apart, it would appear that the linkage is worn and loose, so in effect too much play. Need to try the dealer for replacement parts, if there is such a thing?
Thanks anyway.
Take care.

Pannier locking mechanism seems to be worn.

When returning pannier to the bike my pannier locking system is proving difficult to close.
The handle is no longer closing, causing the mechanism to fail to secure the pannier and to lock it to the bike.
Has anyone replaced the mechanism on the pannier, can it be replaced?
Thanks for any advice.

Re: RT for 2021

Why on earth does it not have decent mirrors, similar to the K1600?

Re: Starter button problems

I always park my bike on the side stand and in first gear, an extra safety feature as to stop the bike rolling forward. Therefore getting back on is side stand up, clutch in, press starter button and move off. Simple and quick. I was taught this years ago, adopted it ever since. Even with a neutral ...

Re: Starter button problems

Yes David, it was the starter button, on my RT, the bike sat in the midday sun as we went for lunch waiting for the ferry. Wouldn't start, breakdown recovery took it to the dealer where the bike sat over the weekend in the underground workshop. When I went to collect the bike mechanic said, 'no prob...

Re: Starter button problems

According to the video, it would appear that the contacts are completely sealed, so would think no corrosion/dust problems. I have experienced heat problems before in Tuscany but not heat problem this time. Even in the garage on a cool morning i have had the same problem. The dealer can't help for a...

Re: Starter button problems

I am hoping that it is the button. I have sprayed it with contact cleaner so far, I am not sure where to find the starter relay, sorry.
