Re: Servicing - Dealer, Independent or DIY.
On the 2010 bike, the last service done at the dealers was at 18K miles, I was not looking forward to the cost of the next service, 24K miles/3 years. Purchased all the oils & parts myself, had a full day in the garage and completed the service with the exception of the following items:- Reading...

Re: Servicing - Dealer, Independent or DIY.
Have spoken to BMW Warranty Services, they assure me that an independent VAT registered garage can be used to uphold new, used & extended warranties, providing genuine BMW parts are used, you get a receipt for the work & your service book is stamped. The guy I refer to, had recently purchase...

Servicing - Dealer, Independent or DIY.
From new, for the first 2 years (warranty period), I've tended to use a main dealer, either Cooper at Sunderland or Barrie Robson in York. After that, I've used an independent and done some DIY. In the NE of England, there is Mick Kendrick at Sunderland, http://www.mick-kendrick.co.uk/. Unfortunatel...

Local Bike Groups & Ride Outs etc.
What do you do for social get-togethers & ride outs. Do you do your own thing, make arrangements with others privately or use any local bike groups/forums etc. Living near Stockton-on-Tees (Teesside), I generally use a combination of a local web forum (not model specific) & private arrangeme...

Re: What have you got planned for 2015?
When on the Isle of Skye, there is a small ferry from Kylerhea to Glenelg, it is the last manually operated turntable ferry in Scotland, well worth supporting. http://www.skyeferry.co.uk/index.html http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo80/davidsykes/DSCN1079_zps9b2ad7f8.jpg http://i363.photobucket.co...

Yes, there is a ferry between Tobermory & Kilchoan, don't think the summer 2015 timetable is available yet.
This is the current Winter timetable:- http://www.calmac.co.uk/timetables/wint ... lchoan.png

Re: R1200RT (2005-2009)
My 2007 model wasn't without it's problems, the engine failed after 6 months & 10,000 miles, partially seized both cylinders, fortunately under warranty. BMW said they were investigating a number of piston crown failures, new modified pistons were fitted. The front discs were replaced twice, the...

We were in Austria the 2nd & 3rd week in September 2013 and had some unseasonably poor weather.

Re: Norway
What a coincidence, just been looking at motorcycle tour operators and White Rose Tours are, for the first time, offering a trip to Norway.

Haven't used the guys myself yet, but they are local to me and I have heard some good reports.
