Re: Are RT and GS downpipes the same?

The downpipes on my 2011 RT are in a sorry state and have clearly received no TLC in their life. I plan to sand and polish to restore them but if that doesn’t work, there is the option of secondhand ones in far better shape. Would getting the original downpipes ceramic coated be an alternative opti...

Re: Are RT and GS downpipes the same?

The best condition ones I have seen, have been from a Camhead GS and the part number is one digit different from the RT part. So my question to the experts is are the GS and RT downpipes interchangeable. Don't think so, putting the RT part number into RealOEM only lists fitment for the RT and R mod...

Re: Valve shims ?

I believe they are 8.90 mm dia. ones for the shifthead. Looks about right. https://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/NotesParts/11347718085_3_B.jpg I’m stewing on buying a kit so I have some at hand, I see there’s some very cheap n nasty looking ones for sale here in the UK. Any ideas if there’s a decent kit a...

Re: Wunderlich rear dirt-trap help!

Just noticed the two black cable ties, I'm surprised Wunderlich didn't think to provide silver/grey ones.

Re: Pannier question

The other thing that occurs to me is that I haven't tried refitting the panniers after having the side plates powder coated. I bet there's a few mm of tolerance in the exact positioning of the lower pannier mount when you torque them down. This is true, I know someone who removed/refitted a footres...

Re: Pannier question

So is the difference just the footplate thickness. The kit contains 2 pieces. 1 piece measures 225 thousandths and the other 190 thousandths in thickness. The part on my saddlebag measures 120 thou." I've searched the web and cannot find any various thicknesses being sold. Likely to be BMW Mot...

GS's have a hole drilled in the swingarm fitted with a one-way valve to let the water out.

RT's aren't waterproof.

Re: Pannier question

This looks to be a similar part with a different part number https://www.motorworks.co.uk/pannier-support-bracket-lua99847-1.html That is the one which MAX BMW describe as a support, sold separately. Perhaps this is original (standard fitment) and the others sold as a set are to improve the pannier...
