Re: Suspension warning light

I'm one who took it out on my previous Beemer. a K13GT, and yes, whilst it seems expensive for £371 per yr (with a £100 excess, and £400 / yr with a £50 excess applied),or just the emergency service breakdown cover for £142 / yr. Like any insurance, it's peace of mind if and when things go wrong at...

Re: I.C.E. Details

Got one of these on EBay for £2.70, delivered. You write your details on the supplied card, before waterproof sealing then, and sticking them to your helmet. Simple, but effective. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182407688637?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT ...

Re: Garmin Express -- New update -- Now v5.3.0.0

I'm cautious as well and the risk is greatest if you update at the last minute before leaving. I have just updated to City Navigator 2017.30 and will not update again still after the summer holidays are over. If a new road gets opened in the meantime, I'm sure I will cope. I cannot understand why s...

Re: New One

The upshift (assist) is so much smoother. The downshift (assist) is easier. Getting into 1st at any time is easier. Finding neutral (at times impossible on my 2014) is again easier. Overall, I'm very happy with the new model. Just what I found when I switched to a 17 GS. Like the colour scheme BTW ...

Re: How many RT LC owners actually have problems / issues?

Just picked up my 2016 from its 12000 mile plus annual.  They are warrantying the left side bag.  It would frequently fail to lock on the first attempt, and it was very difficult, verging on impossible, to put it back on the bike once removed. I had exactly the same problem.&n...

Re: what if

I had a 1200gs as a loan bike during a service the gearbox was increadably smooth, I guessed it was a luck of the draw and maybe I got a Friday afternoon bike. I suspect it's to do with year, rather than model.  I traded my 14 RT (LC) for a new GS and the gear box is totally different - wa...

Re: Garmin Express -- New update -- Now v5.3.0.0

My maps are also out of date.  I'm always really nervous about updating them - so much to go wrong and 99%+ of the new version is bound to be the same as the old one.

Am I right to be cautious?

Re: Squeak During Pre Start Check

Yes, I've heard this too! :) I think it's the exhaust flap cycling open/closed/open. The noise went away when I stripped and lubricated the cable pulley and spring assembly.  ??? normally cured by the in-built design trick of having the exhaust flap seize.  Then easily cured by th...

Re: Blind spot mirrors ... Yay or nay?

This is getting to be even funnier than the threads about colours and scaffolding. I count seven rear-view mirrors on that bike - and apparently you need a grinder of some description to fit some of them! Still, they only increase the width of the (already very wide) bike by 4 inches, so I guess it'...

Re: Blind spot mirrors ... Yay or nay?

How about the Roderscan mirror? Ugly and expensive (£40+),but apparently quite effective. https://i921.photobucket.com/albums/ad54/sullivj/0c59ec993bef8212b6537f17f86d8792_zpseprwrcgo.jpg Re: Blind spot mirrors ... Yay or nay? It's definitely one of the two - the other I'm not so sure about... ;-)
