Re: Is the extended warranty worth it?

In reply to extended warranty and is it worth it.......yes would be my answer, especially on an older second hand bike bought at the dealership. I didn't take up the offer of extending the warranty and several months later I needed a replacement lambada sensor, followed by a fuel controller months a...

Re: ABS pump starting to fail? 1200RT 2006 model

The ABS unit failed 2 years ago on my 2005 RT. I went down the route of removing the ABS unit. Work carried out by a local BMW specialist. No ABS now but I get a decent feel on the levers and brakes work just fine. As previously mentioned, a new pump was going to be £1700~£1900. Slightly less to hav...

Re: Fuel strip

Had my fuel strip replaced back in November. The lad who usually works on my bike, an authorised BMW workshop, said BMW no longer gave the " year warranty unless supplied and fitted by Dealers. Had it replaced back in 2015 ( 2005 bike ) when I bought the bike under warranty and has lasted over ...

Re: Fuel grade

Thanks for that info Dayglodavid, taken note. Will fill with the higher grade. Had a slight miss fire and stutter on the first ride out and also the fuel gauge went pear shaped. Robsons (Dealer at York ) replaced the gauge and thought the stutter could be down to old fuel as the previous owner hadn'...

Re: Tyre inflation

Thanks Stelyn, I was considering one of them after looking at Halfords site. Certainly make the rear tyre easier and overcome the connection to the front.

Fuel grade

Just wondering which grade most of you use? Being new to the RT and reading the label around the tank lid saying to use RON 98, I'd like your opinions. There's probably been discussions on this before but I haven't managed to come across any yet. Previously I've used the lower grade in all my sports...

Tyre inflation

Hi, I decided to go out today on my recently acquired RT. Had Michelin Pilot 4 Gts fitted when agreeing to buy the bike. I've had a few ride outs already, as any problems that may occur can be done under warranty so best to get some miles done. Checking the rear Tyre was a little fiddly and I realis...

Re: Newbie

Hi , just an up date. test rode the RT and liked it so much I've bought it. I took on board the comment about the brakes and noted they did have the electric servo brakes. I chatted to the lads in the workshop about the bike and it has been serviced by them since new, 1 owner who has had several RTs...

Newbie

Hi all, just joined today and having a quick (very) look around the site. In the process of buying a 2005 red RT1200, depending upon negotiations. Never had anything to do with BMW, ridden mostly Honda and Triumph sports bikes, but recently had a quick short ride on an RT my lad rides for the volunt...
