Re: 2014 speaker install

OK. Almost everything in order. Gone for a Pyle 300 amp marine amplifier. Some 5 1/4" alpine coaxial speakers that I plan in making custom mounts for. Only thing I have not decided on yet is radio and antenna. Loads of space behind speaker mounts and also behind the rh cover (the oposit to the...

Re: Tapping into brake light

Thanks for the reply.  Where did you tap in for the brake light?  Did you use a relay to activate the brake light or tap directly into one of the existing brake light wires? I can't say.  The physical connections were made by the dealer when they mounted the fuse block, a...

Re: Tapping into brake light

How about an update on your 2015 taillight wiring job.  What worked and what didn't?  I have a 2016 without locking and like the look of the Custom Dynamics led. The install on my bike was very straightforward really. I started by taking the outer shell of the lid off to send out ...

I've bought the BMW large top box for my 2014 RT. There is a blanking plate over where an additional brake light can go.

Anyone know where to get one and if its easy to fit?

Thanks

Does you bike have the central locking?

Re: BMW topcase wiring/locks

I just received the deluxe BMW topcase and extra brake light from KFM in Germany (part# 77 43 8 544 631 and 77 51 8 520 044).  I have a couple issues with it, one is the wiring harness and the other is the locking mechanism.  The case came with a large round plug, and there is not...

Re: How is the new RT in hot weather?

In the summer in Alabama, I regularly ride when it's 100F outside.  Having traded a 2005 model RT in on the RTLC, I can say that the RTLC is hotter.  The left fairing vent (was told it was the oil cooler side) bakes my left knee if I don't keep it tucked in near the tank.

Re: Highway pegs for R1200RT-LC with Touratech engine guard

Were you successful getting Mick-o-pegs to work with crash bars? Still seeking highway peg solution for LC. I haven't yet.  Money has been kind of tight right now.  Had some medical expenses to deal with.  Jay and Jim Mick are pretty sure the model TG is what you want to ...

Re: IMPROVED HORN

I'm still getting familiar with BMW, but if you remove one wire from the horn and operate the button you might be able to hear a relay. I'd you can, it might have contacts rated high enough for the choice of horn. Certainly though, any horn is probably invisible to the canbus (it'll only see the co...

Wiring new model top box is easy, especially if you have it apart to paint.  I didn't see any need to wire for interior light.  For $5 you can get little stick on LED lights that last forever.

From here - https://www.customdynamics.com/truflex_ ... .htm.  The 95 LED strip fits perfectly.  You want the little dual converter so that they work as tail light and brake light.

Re: Handle Bar Risers

Question for those who fit the Illium Works bar risers to their 2014 or newer RT. Does the new grip position maintain the original angle, or has it been changed to relieve some wrist pressure? I understand that the new Helibars do in fact lower the outboard end of the grips by a degree or so for th...

I've never heard of an insurance claim being denied because the bike had engine bars in the history of motorcycling.

Re: Handle Bar Risers

Are you guys with risers fitted, tall? So do the risers take the pressure off the wrists? I spoke to a chap on Sunday who said after long mileage his wrists ached, but he was over 6ft. I'm only 5ft 8 and haven't noticed anything uncomfortable as yet. But like the look of the risers :) No I'm only 5...

Re: Crash bars - to be or not to be that is the question

Don't know any details.  Probably bent in somewhere onto one point. In that case, the head itself would have taken all the brunt of the force without them.  Some part of the energy of the crash was absorbed by the bar, and some transferred to the frame.  If there was stil...
