Re: Top Box brake light using Skene P3
Pope, You say you've got the big 49 l BMW top box with their brake light option fitted and all the necessary wiring therefore included. Most impressive it looks too! Therefore, why the need for the Skene P3 controller as per the comment below the photo? Did I miss something in the earlier dialogue.....

Re: New to me 2008 R1200RT - horn and hi-beam upgrades
Yes, anything's better than the poxy pip squeak horn that plagues all (?) bike OEM ones. I realise everything's built to a budget, but why do they all persist in fitting crap horns on new bikes??

Re: OEM Top Box for 2015 RT
My dealer has dealt with equipment warranty claims previously regarding items bought in this manner, and as it's clearly genuine OEM equipment/accessories with a purchase invoice marked as such, then they honour it without quibble. If they operate with this sensible approach, good for them. Pity som...

Re: OEM Top Box for 2015 RT
Yes, a misquote on my part there. If bought from the website, my local dealer will oblige with coding the locks for a modest fee. Regardless, it's still a saving of nigh on £100 for the basic top box all in....and still with a 2yr warranty recognised by the UK dealer.

£760 (at least) from the dealer .v. £560 from the German web site (incl. of coded locks and shipping).

Wow! A big saving. Just got to receive it now...! Joking aside, I'd be interested to hear what you think of their service etc when the box arrives, as I'm contemplating ordering the same.

Re: Heated seat on an LC RT
Well, strange as it sounds (to me at least) my heated seat is finally putting out some therms!! Having ridden it around the last few days with the seat setting on 5 bars maximum setting, it actually feels quite comfortable when wearing armoured jeans :enjoying: . Setting it at 2 bars heat, it's stil...

Re: OEM Top Box for 2015 RT
mercator1,
Well, they appear to ship worldwide and when you use USA on the shipping deatils, and it re-calculates for currency exchange rate, the 49 l box with coded keys comes to approx $750. Is that still a steal stateside?

Yes, that's an interesting slant on it. My seat is the OE high seat, so this may possibly be linked.....??

Despite a slight increase in wind noise, I've got my Drift HD camera and Cardo Scala intercom in similar locations.

Re: Heated seat on an LC RT
I had an interesting chat with the dealer today (Riders of Cardiff) re my heated seat saga. In short, their advice was to re-check it with my own dealer (Lovetts), by testing out their RT demo bike, and if necessary, swap seats over to establish if it is my seat that's suspect. Riders did stress tha...

Re: Changing the rear tire
The UK owner's manual on the 2015 RT only refers to swinging the silencer out CW toward the outside (?) before removing the wheel bolts etc. :wonder:
