Re: BMW Guards have removed paint!!

Zooming in on the picture and looking at the finish in other places it looks like the cover has been repainted at some time?

Indeed, but a little common sense will see you right.

Re: Keyless ride - emergency key

Just carry a spare fob battery maybe. $250 is very expensive.

Re: Keyless ride - emergency key

The key fob will still do its job even if the battery inside it is flat, as per the manual. You don't need the spare plastic key.

Always seems strange the lengths people go to to carry 2 keys on a keyless bike. Do they also carry spare car keys when they go for a drive?!

Re: Boxer engines and rider injuries

Not an RT, but my 1150gs after an 'old dear' accelerated out of a side road as I passed (she told Police she had pushed the accelerator instead of the brake by mistake). Without a doubt those big sticky out bits saved my leg from serious damage: https://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk14/mb5_2008/bike...

Re: Has anyone upgraded their horn?

I fitted a pair of high/low horns from Halfords (proper motorbike ones). They cost about £20 for both. As mentioned here, you can fit the extra horn on the opposite side. I just paired them to the single feed on my 2011 TC. You may even have the connector sitting unused on yours. Nippy Normans do a ...

Re: Which intercom.... bike to bike....

I got rid of all my autocom and the associated wire last year and replaced it with the Sena smh5 and the Sena SR10 hub. The SR10 allows a pmr radio to be connected, which is great when I'm instructing if the students dont have Bluetooth. The PMRs I give to them use rubber over ear earpieces which li...

Re: tc or lc

Sounds like a great deal. My TC was a cracker of a bike. Bmw should service it if it's within a 1000 miles of its next service. Looks like yours is 50 miles over this limit, so try to haggle the 6k service into the deal as well. Barnstormers are pretty good people to deal with.

Re: New 2017 gearbox clunk free.

I have been told that 2016 model bikes cannot be sold as new after 31 Dec because of the new Euro 4 regulations. Wouldn't think there would be many around though with the 17 model having been out since September. So if you want the faster bike, best get in before the new year and buy a 2016 model&a...

Re: New 2017 gearbox clunk free.

You could be right there. Although from what the dealer says the Euro 4 is for the 2017 models released this September. I guess a downpipe swap could restore any lost poke if this is indeed the case.

Re: New 2017 gearbox clunk free.

I finally had a test ride on the 2017 model. Less of a clunk into first, but it's still there. The gear change is better in the first 3 gears, but only very marginally over the 2016. Infact down changes were identical. I won't be rushing out to buy one (the rumours are already out about a more signi...

Re: R1200RT TC

The TC has different background colour to make it easier to read and the addition of the sun visor, so not the same. 2010-13 clocks less sun shield: http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk14/mb5_2008/_57_zpsti2wv1fe.jpg Re: R1200RT TC 2005-09 clocks: http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk14/mb5_2008/_1...
