Re: IMPROVED HORN

I'm actually impressed by the horn on my 06 RT. Much better than anything on the Jap or Italian bikes I've owned. Did they change this when they took away the excellent servo brakes (just kidding!) for the 07 model?

My OCD strikes again! Thanks for the clarification 👍

Re: BWM comfort seat

Picked up the comfort seat over the weekend and fitted today. Like RTMan10 said a breeze to install and what a difference over stock, big improvement in comfort and support. The only slight negative being when installed it does not fully but-up against the tank as snug as the stock front seat and th...

Yes, lesson learnt, I won't be doing that again in a hurry! However I'm sure I got all the bolts back correctly.

Deep clean

Being the type of chap who likes to see how things tick I decided to strip down the bike and take a look under the covers. After about an hour I had most of the panels off having carefully put all the respective torx bolts in plastic storage containers (ex Chinese take away items). After doing a dee...

Yes, just showing its been going on for a while and with different BMW models. Scary how the US fella goes about his work, especially when ripping into the wiring  :o

Re: Going to look at a 2005 R1200RT. What do I need to know?

Who are (they).  £250 is no more than 3 or 4 hrs skilled work.  what's described is a lot more than that.  Remember your Blackbird had mechanically linked brakes.  The RT ones are electronically semi linked and to disable that is very worrying. They are an Indepe...

Re: Going to look at a 2005 R1200RT. What do I need to know?

I agree with RTman10 keep away from 05 ,06 If the servo goes it will cost more than the bike, you can get 2nd hand units but with no guarantee. Think about it there has to be a reason they only fitted them for 2 yrs. As far as doing a conventional conversion for £400 I reckon its impossible Think a...

Re: Going to look at a 2005 R1200RT. What do I need to know?

Not a 2005 or 06 model.  12 years old with electro servo brakes it's not worth the risk. If they fail the repair cost would be more than the value of the whole bike.  Find a 2007 onwards, much safer buy. I've got a low mileage 2006 RT which is in excellent condition, no corrosion ...

RTman10 wrote: Very good value. Just remember if you have a standard seat now you will be a little lower on it. Think I remember 775mm.
This could be a plus point as even on the lower seat setting I'm a bit tip toe. So Hopefully will feel more confident and less worried about it tipping over 😃

Re: BWM comfort seat

Yes, heated as per stock item and only used once, so if it's £300 new £160 sounds like good value :)
