Re: Navigator V cradle

Had a further look into this today and found some interesting things, but no silver bullet. So what did I learn: the 2006 RT only has one connector under the headstock. It has three wires; red/white, blue & brown. Housed in the male version of the nippy norman type connector. No cap on it so it ...

Re: Navigator V cradle

Wow, excellent information Dayglodave, much appreciated. Yes, saw the feedback from the BMW Motorrad site which set me on this journey of setting up the V cradle to power my Garmin 660! I've got a couple of hours spare today so will stick a DVM on the connectors and see what the actual situation is....

Re: Navigator V cradle

It could just be the 660 is not compatible with the cradle.  Try to get hold of somebody with a IV or V before attacking the cables.  Lots of BMW kit will only work with BMW kit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I was trying to establish the compatabilty before I jumped in! So whi...

Re: Navigator V cradle

With the IV or V they power up when you turn on the ignition.  Are you sure when you manually turn on the 660 it's getting power from the bike and not working on internal battery. Also on switch off it should tell you you have lost power and do you want to continue on battery. As I thought...

Re: Navigator V cradle

I installed the Wunderlink satnav mounting his afternoon. Quiet straight forward and found a nice cable run back to the power connector under the headstock. All looks good but I'm not sure it works : ( on my Ducati once the Zumo 660 is in the Garmin cradle and I turn the ignition key the 660 unit po...

Re: BT intercom

Just had a quick look at the Uclear web site.  I would be suspicious of the phrase "suitable for motorcycle helmets".  I prefer made for motorcycle helmets. Whem BMW first decided to do Bluetooth headsets they made it with the mic located in the front of the helmet rim.&...

Re: BT intercom

Some really great information here and well timed for me as I'm in the process of setting up a satnav and communication system. Previously I used a starcom digital wired device, initially with the standard headset and then the impressive neck mics. However I had issues with interference which was ne...

Re: Functionality - Garmin 660, Navigator IV and V

Thanks for the informative comments. Whilst I would love the latest LC model I've got a 2006 bike at which time the connectivity options of today were only just being developed and yes, I'm on a budget : (  So for me anyway it seems to make sense to stick with the Garmin 660, it has the Eur...

Functionality - Garmin 660, Navigator IV and V

So here's the thing. I'm about to install a Navigator V cradle on my RT and my plan is to use this to power my Garmin 660. I know the buttons on the cradle won't work with my Garmin which got me thinking about selling this and getting a Navigator. But could somebody answer the following questions pl...

Mine is 2005 1000SDS (Ohlins shod one). Old school air cooled V-twin with no rider aids apart from how far you ping the throttle. Wont get so much use this year but such a hoot to ride.

Re: Navigator V cradle

The Nav V cradle is the same height as the 660 one but unless you have a Nav V to put in it why bother.  Its a lot more money, the buttons only work with the Nav IV and V and if you put a 660 in it it covers the audio out socket. Good question, currently I have the Garmin 660 with Garmin m...

Re: Navigator V cradle

https://static.garmincdn.com/en/products/010-11270-03/g/cf-lg.jpg The Zumo 660 mount can be wired directly to a "Switched Live" & "Earth". Yes, I also have one of these but there is loads more cable length and additional connectors for things I don't need and finally no BMW ...

Re: Navigator V cradle

He should be OK then. The V is a lot bigger unit than the 550 they show though. I also have a Zumo 660 mount which is smaller than the V cradle so may go down that route if size becomes an issue. But it has a longer lead with more connectors and I will need to get a BMW female connector to connect ...
