Re: Clearwater LED Spots - fitment

I have the same lights fitted to my 2016 1200RT and I agree that they are fantastic. One word of caution - I had the bike MOT’d recently and the tester said that it was illegal to have the spot lights flashing with the horn (I also had yellow filters on the spots and he failed those as well). Other...

Clearwater LED Spots - fitment

Spent Saturday morning fitting a set of the excellent Clearwater Darla spot lights to my 2012 RT. There is a bit of panel removal and wiring into the loom (high, low beam and horn) but the fitting kit comes with some handy posi-twist connectors which makes the wiring task nice and easy. Via some bra...

Quick update, a faulty (intermittent) kill switch was the culprit here. Currently being replaced by my local dealer.

Could be, need to get it plugged into BMW diagnostics to see what error codes have been logged.

Re: Scary moment today on my 2012 RT SE

I tried to start the bike again on Sunday morning. With ignition turned to on, the fuel gauge was again missing, but the remaining range displayed 147 miles (see attached image). On pressing the start button nothing happened, no attempt to turn over at all. Exactly the same situation as when I broke...

Scary moment today on my 2012 RT SE

Joining the M4 from Reading, London bound and in the outside lane, I'd just set the cruise control for the 50 mph restricted section when bike just shut down as if it had run out of fuel. One second it was fine the next it wasn't, after a scary couple of minutes I manged to get to the inside lane, b...

Re: Help - screen stuck in up position

Thanks David, left it 30 minutes once at Hotel and tried again and it’s working. Canbus re-set 🤔, let’s see what tomorrow brings. Right off to the bar for a cool beer.

Help - screen stuck in up position

2012 R1200RT SE on 1st day of tour in Spain and screen has got stuck in the up position, right in line of sight so a bit of a safety concern and no wind blast to keep cool 😳. I’ve read that the switch gear is an issue on these models but is there anything I can do to bring it down manually? Thanks f...

Hi john

I think I may have one of these sitting on a shelf in my garage. Let me see if I can dig it out.

Others have done a servo-ectomy to remove it altogether.

Steve no longer offers the servo repair service.

Re: Insurance

One reason I maintain my IAM membership is for potential discounted insurance through IAM Surety (formerly Adelaide). Over recent years, they have just not been competitive for me, hence switching to Carole Nash. Did speak to IAM Surety before renewing, they don't offer a six wheel policy & wan...
