Re: Rear Rack Removal (Caution Needed)

Did you split the luggage grid (No. 01) from the left & right handles (No. 02) or remove it as a complete item. Are the M6x20 oval head screws item No. 10. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=0430-EUR-05-2012-K26-BMW-R_1200_RT_10_0430,0440_&diagId=46_0919 Rack removed as a complete...

Re: Rear Rack Removal (Caution Needed)

I'm sure this is a stupid question but why would you want to remove the luggage rack?? Not stupid at all Richard, like a lot of other assemblies you often have to remove certain items before the item you want to get at or remove can be accessed. In this case I needed to gain good access to the wiri...

Re: Metzeler Roadtec 01.

Could the TPS be ditched in favour of conventional tyre valves. Looking at the Parts Fiche I would say that's a distinct possibility. There only appears to be one part number for the wheel except where there is a black wheel listed. There might be a problem in that an "error" code may wel...

Rear Rack Removal (Caution Needed)

Just a word of caution to anyone contemplating removing the RT Rear Luggage Rack. There are two M6 x 20 Oval Head Torx Screws which are accessed from below just in front of the rear light cluster. When in postion a portion of the screw threads protrude through the rack and are prone to corrosion. Th...

Re: Metzeler Roadtec 01.

Has your bike got TPS fitted. . Yes David, TPS (Tyre Pressure Sensors) are fitted. I'd rather I didn't have them though, more trouble than they are worth. In the time Iv'e had this bike I think Iv'e only looked the display a couple of times, the first time to see if they where working and another t...

Re: Metzeler Roadtec 01.

Had a new Roadsmart fitted to the rear this morning. I have left the front until later as there is about 2000 miles left in it. Bit disapointed at the 60 grams of scrap metal it required to balance though, doesn't look very pretty especially being stuck on skew wiff !!. Incidently, Pete at Dunlop Te...

Re: Rear Suspension Wiring Problem. 2012 Twincam

Managed to obtain another couple of inches of "slack" although it did mean dismantling the rear end, Rack, Offside rear panel etc. The wire from the Shock goes to a plug and socket which is mounted on a removable plastic bracket. The bracket had a "spare" mounting lug which was a...

Rear Suspension Wiring Problem. 2012 Twincam

Morning all, Just removed my rear wheel to have the Roadsmart renewed and I have noticed that where the wiring enters the bottom of the rear suspension unit (ESA model) the rubber boot is "split". Further investigation by removing the lower section the the mudguard shows that when the susp...

Re: Ferry crossing

Wouldn't dream of tying down across the seat. The Seat base is only plastic and any excessive force may damage the seat and even the seat heat wiring. I had permanent nylon strap loops attached to the frame tubes near the battery which poked out between the front and rear fairing panels. These where...

Re: Metzeler Roadtec 01.

So what makes them better than the PR4GT. Better grip, longevity, or is it just preferred feel. I have never had any grip issues with the PR4GT and I ride all year round Not an easy question to answer Casbar. I suppose that if the Roadsmarts where tested to the extreme, back to back against the ver...

Re: Metzeler Roadtec 01.

Thank's for the replies chaps and the comfort info (RTman10). However, the current price for the Roadsmarts as flagged up by David is very tempting. I rang National Bike Tyres at Ayecliff and that price plus £8 per wheel for fitting is a good buy so that looks like the way I'll be going. Incidently ...

Metzeler Roadtec 01.

I will be changing tyres soon on our TwinCam RT and having run on the good old Dunlop Roadsmarts for the last three sets I was now thinking of giving the Metzeler Roadtec 01 a go. I would be interested to hear comments from any one who is on the Metzelers and if they are the standard tyre or the HWM...
