Re: Torque Wrench

Nice to see that this "Dark Subject" is at last generating some interest. I have tried to raise interest and comments in the past but without response, so thanks chaps. If we use the RT Rear Wheel Bolts as an example there are two locations where "Friction" will be a factor. Firs...

Re: Torque Wrench

A few years ago a Professional Bolt Tensioning and Torqueing Technician gave me some good advice about Torque Wrench usage. One of the main points he warned me about was applying a given Torque value without checking if this value should be applied to Dry, Oiled, Greased, etc, threads. For example, ...

Re: On the Horn

My 2008 Hexhead had the Twin Horns which looked like an original fitment to me. There again, maybe some one had done an up-grade prior to me getting the bike ?.

Re: On the Horn

I do believe that the Hexhead RT's had Twin Tone Horns as standard. With the introduction of The Twin Cam model this was replaced by a single Flat type horn
I recently replaced the Single type on my 2011 Twin Cam for a used pair of the far better sounding Twin Tones from the 2005-2009 Hexhead.

Re: Fuel prices

Just back home from a hastily planed trip up to bonny Scotland covering about 750 miles. Fuel prices over the three day trip ranged from £1.82 a litre at my local Shell Station to £1.65 (bargain !) in remote Lossiemouth with a highest price of £1.86 (highway robbery !) in Pitlochry. All prices where...

Re: Pressure rod, rear master cylinder

Never had one to pieces but from other similar types I would say the pressure rod will have "ball end" which locates into a "cupped" piston without any form of mechanical attachment. (Similar to the Clutch Master Cylinder, which I have had apart) Parts diagrams (have a look at Ma...

Re: Breakdown / Recovery Products (Which One)

Thanks David, just had a quick look at the link and the Auto Aid web site. Might have missed it but no mention of Motorcycles anywhere. I don’t doubt that you will have thoroughly confirmed your requirements before you purchased. Do you know if Auto Aid will send an experienced “Motorcycle” breakdow...

Breakdown / Recovery Products (Which One)

Annual insurance renewal time again. Most insurers offer the option to include some form of Breakdown Service at an appropriate extra premium. I have been looking at this in detail and the products offered do seem to vary quite a lot with regard to just what is included. Does anyone have any experie...

Re: Tyre Air Compressor

Thanks for the warning Sakm, I have an extra socket on the rear fairing below the pillion area, which is wired directly to the battery. There is an inline fuse so I will check the rating tomorrow.

Re: Tyre Air Compressor

Many thanks for the replies chaps. Decided to go with the one recommended by Sakm. Ordered on Friday, delivered today. Really neat and compact design, "easily" slides in the space behind the pillion seat locking catch. Bargain price of £12.20 delivered.

Re: Taller screen

Like David I have the larger version (Z2403) of the brilliant Ztechnik screen on my 2011 RT. I have used this screen on three RT's (2008 Hexhead, 2011 and 2013 Twincams) and can highly recommend it. The quality is excellent and the increase in riding pleasure is vast. You may wish to consider fittin...

Tyre Air Compressor

Just in the process of prepping the RT for a return to the roads in April. First problem. Trying to remove my Air Compressor from the compartment behind the pillion seat lock it had become stuck. (It was a tight squeeze when sliding it in there). Eventually I managed to retrieve it but obviously it ...
