OldTimers one is great kit, fitted to 2x R1200RTs and now on a 2020 R1250RT, does what it should (why did BMW never adopt this approach??? )

Re: What do you use.

Radio /MP3 player? - Essential to have sounds on the move! Also works a treat playing Rock at full volume in traffic, like parting the waters from the bible. "Loud pipes save lives"? - No, they just annoy everyone  Loud music, now that does save lives :-D PS if you have trouble with...

Re: Audio Upgrades

Hi Mike, Many thanks for this. I will look at the video again (when I can run the sound!) but I think it shows all I needed it to. In the meantime and picking up your offer "Let me know if you have any questions", just one. Why did you run to battery's positive terminal rather than use the...

Re: CANbus electrical system

I have always thought that CANbus was a great idea but not so good in practise. If I remember correctly in its basic form CANbus is just four wires for the whole loom; positive, negative and 2x low voltage data wires. But no one seems to have actually built a vehicle like that. Also, IIRC, back in t...

Re: Audio Upgrades

Mike, Thanks for the quick response. Based on which, I think I might bite the bullet and spend the extra 11% and go for the "Stage 1.5" option. That way I can keep my options open and perhaps add the rear pods later. Particularly if I like the look of the redesigned pods if that does happe...

Re: Audio Upgrades

Hi Mike, The R1200RT/1250RT kits look good!! Can you give some idea what the improvement the stage 1 and stage 3 upgrades give over the stock R1250RT BMW audio? I can just about see me dropping $1.4k for extra volume up front and perhaps going as far as adding rear speakers to get even better sounds...

Re: BMW's "Stop Sales" order in North America

I agree, in today's global economy build one bike to the toughest standard and sell it worldwide. We just move to the USA from the UK for two years and because I like my 2020 R1250RT dials and dislike the current RT's TFT (a lot) I have brought my bike with me. But I can only use it here for a year ...

Re: Nav VI

I purchase my Nav V new with my R1200RT years ago and it has always worked fine, now on a 2020 1250RT. Yes BMW nav units are too expensive for the extra they offer of the base Garmin units they are based on, but I could not live with a satnav that was "almost" as good as the OEM built in o...

Re: Which Baglux tank bag fits the RT?

Sorry for the delay in replying, here is a photo. But there is nothing on the tank-bag to say what model it is I am afraid.
Hope this helps!

Re: Which Baglux tank bag fits the RT?

I do not know about the larger Baglux tank-bags, but I have small one that fits my 2020 RT just fine. It was one of the smaller Baglux tank bags (18l?) when I got it and it has been on all my R'RTs since the 1150.

Re: how many ride all year?

Yes, all year round and since starting a new central London based job in September, 2k miles per month (50 miles/2hours each way).
I would not ride in "real" snow or ice but this winter we have not had either and the lowest temperature was only -4c so even that was not too daunting!

Re: Hand guards on r1200rt

Bit dear for me but if they work i may be interested. Ok, my experience: Handguards - Do not do that much for keeping hands warm. Better than nothing I guess and protect against stones! Barkbuster Blizzards - Do take the worst of the wind chill away. Help keep hands warm whilst still allowing (almo...
