Re: Any one tried a SHAD top box?

I like the end result, but the instructions are terrible. You do need to do some drilling. Four holes to the silver part of the rack with large enough holes to slip the spacers through. I don't have the "directions" in front of me, but if I interpreted them properly, you basically drill ea...

Re: Any one tried a SHAD top box?

Noticed In some of the previous photos that the mount was missing a part of the stock rack. I almost went that way as well, until I figured out the issue with the spacers needing to pass through the silver part of the rack. I believe the mount is supposed to look like the attached.

Re: Any one tried a SHAD top box?

Just installed a Shad SH-50. As noted, the instructions leave a lot to be desired. After figuring out that the holes for the spacers have to be large enough to let them pass through the silver part of the rack, installation went well. Seems to be very secure, but time will tell once I've had an oppo...

Re: 2016 RT - First Week Impressions

You may have just cost me a grand or so for a new pipe! It's all good, though.  There's an MOA ride in the area tomorrow. Perhaps I'll get a chance to hear an Akrapovic can on one of the bikes.

Re: 2016 RT - First Week Impressions

No regrets at all. I don't know that you could find a bike that rides, handles and performs as well, it's more my getting accustomed to a new bike and platform.

2016 RT - First Week Impressions

Picked up my RT last week and thought I would post my impressions after putting 600 miles on it. As background, I've ridden three and four cylinder bikes for years. This is my first twin and first BMW. What I love - the handling is fantastic! Biggest bike I've owned, but the best handling by far. Th...

Re: 2016 RT Headlight Pro Question

Thanks for the input. I am referring to what I've seen in some videos. Too bad it can't be set up that way, as I think it would improve visibility (and it looks cool!)

2016 RT Headlight Pro Question

just picked up my bike and trying to figure out how to get the LED lights to oscillate. I have the headlight pro on it, but have seen some bikes where the LEDs oscillate (if that's the right word) and would like to set mine up so they do. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

2016 RT - Optional Settings

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but wanted to know what options can be set up by the dealer relative to the various systems on the bike. I'm picking mine up this next week and wanted to hear if anyone had recommendations on things they changed or asked the dealer to change. For exa...

Re: Hello everyone

Nice FZ1. I'm on my second one of those, but looking to pick up a new RT after the first of the year. I'll try to hold on to the FZ as well, because for everything but long distance touring, it's hard to beat.

Re: Radio Quality

Thanks, Boxer! Just the kind of feedback I was looking for! I will likely get the audio if for no other reason than the potential resale value down the road, but nice to know I may get some use out of it.

RT sans Audio

For those new RT's that come without the audio package, what's in place of the speakers and the buttons on the left side?

Re: Radio Quality

Thanks for the responses. Good point regarding the resale value. Worst case (besides the extra cost) is I can't hear it well enough to use it.

Radio Quality

I'm going to be purchasing a new RT after the first of year and am undecided about getting the audio system or not. As I'm hard of hearing (I wear hearing aids) I suspect the audio system would be wasted on me, but thought I'd solicit some input from those of you who have the system. Is it something...
