Re: RTLC Remapped

Don't forget to inform the insurance company if you remap the engine.  If you don't and you are involved in an accident it could come to light and the your insurance would become null and void.  The consequences are too terrible to even think about it

Re: Trying to fit rear crash bars

A bit late know, but don't torques them up. The bots that came with the kit come wit nylock nuts, ad you should only tighten them until the nut contacts the mounting bracket, otherwise, you will distort the bracket at best or snap off the bottom piece

Re: Bodywork screws

Ebay, I've bought many a stainless steel torx head bolt from there. Dont forget to apply thread lock to the leading thred when you fit them, an remember that the screen mounting arms are die cast and the thread easily strip.  If that happens which is an almost certainty, you will need to he...

Pour hot water over t and blade it off immediately.  I'm afraid you will never see heated windscreens on bikes

Re: This just doesn't seem right

Have you checked if the slave cylinder is OK.  If you put it into gear and hold the clutch in, dies the bike creep, if it does, check the hydraulic system. If the bike starts to creep it is likely that the master or slave cylinder seals are failing and require replacement.  You cou...

Re: Starter not working

Is the starter motor a pre engaged type?  This means that when the solenoid is activated, the starter pinion is driven into mesh with the ring gear.  If the pinion is sticking, it wont shift, and the motor wont spin over until the pinion is meshed with the ring gear

Re: Trying to fit rear crash bars

Hi, I had this problem a while ago and the reason is the fact that the clevis pin is stainless steel and fitted in an aluminium bracket.  Not a good mixture, it will be seized I'm afraid.  The best thing to do is to remove the bracket complete, soak the area inWD40 overnight and cl...

Re: New 2017 gearbox clunk free.

Initial reports show that the clunk into first has been eliminated, neutral is easy to find,  and all further gear changes are silent and smooth. My 2016 always clunks into first, but otherwise changes gear just fine, so no rush to buy the latest model just yet. How about other LC owners? ...

Re: Considering an RT..

The Rt is the biggest selling tourer on the market. I am on my second one and am an ardent RT biker.  I'm 74 now, and the only bike I'll ever own is a beemer, I may go for the F800 in a few years time, as I get older and fancy something lighter than the RT.  I love the weather prot...

Re: New 2017 gearbox clunk free.

Yes I've taken delivery of a new 2017 RT and the gear box is infinitely smoother up and down. You will still get the clunk when the engine is warm but not when its cold.  I find the bike to be smoother all round over the previous 2014 I had.  I am very impressed with it.  ...

Re: Disc lock.

does anyone use one of these and if so what make. Yes I've used one  for ages.  Tghe trick is to fit it on the side which you approach the bike when the steering is locked. If its a bright colour, you will readily see it.  Also buy one of those orange coloured coiled remi...
