Re: Thick Wallet
100% exhaust flap. You will need a very thick wallet for new headers if your out of warranty.

Re: Looking at a 1250GS
There are some GS owners past and present on here, but this is an RT forum. I would join UKGSER, there is masses of GS experience on there. But be warned it can be a brutal place, moderation is not that strict.

Re: BMW driveshaft recall/problems & preventative maintenance
Did you fit the one way valve. Apparently the valve is not only to release moisture, but the reason moisture ends up in the tunnel is the spinning of the shaft builds up pressure which forces the boots away and that lets water in.

Re: Hi-Viz vests
Spent years wearing one for work on a bike. For the last 9 years been blood biking, so we have to wear dayglo. Originally I had a black air vest, then at night and bad weather was wearing a dayglo vest, so when I changed my air vest, I bought dayglo. They are very good at night and when on the conti...

Re: Dodging exhaust flap bullets!!
Just spoke to my two local dealers to book my 4 year old bike in for its annual service. Prices have gone up, one quoted £430 the other £390. That is a big wedge especially as I've only done 2.5k since the last service, done most of my riding on our fleet bikes

I also have mine under the headlamp using the go pro bracket. Not sure if that fits 21 on bikes though.

Re: R1250RT Safety Recall
Mr BMW is a bit more cunning. All the arduous duty bikes are registered with BMW and they tell us when it needs to go to the dealer for recalls and if we don't follow their guidance, then all bets are off. We had new shafts on a 2015 RTp, a 2019, 2020 and 2021 RT

Re: R1250RT Safety Recall
Official means bikes that have been designated as arduous duty by BMW. So RTp, and civvy spec Blood Bikes. Our 1250RTs which are civilian spec, but marked up, have all had the recall completed.

Re: proshift in turns and down I go
Well as I said, I quite like it, I have been riding since 1973, so pretty old school myself. The shift works best going up when on positive throttle and no throttle coming down the box. Never use it until in 3rd. Like I said before, I used to change gear without the clutch when I could anyway

Re: Insurance renewal
So many variables with insurance, it's nearly impossible to compare between companies and what other individuals have been quoted. Bennetts for instance for the last 4 years have been more expensive than IAM Surety who I have just renewed with. My 1250 costs me £160 fully comp with class A business ...
