Re: 2016 R1200RT Autocom SPA Installation, PDM60 Installation
I also have the SPA, fitted in the same way using velcro. I plug into the Aux socket nearby, that way when I use Bluetooth comms when solo or just a pax I can unplug the Autocom. It causes no problem with the canbus as, unlike the BMW battery charger, it is not recognised.

Re: Priority a droit whilst motorcycling in France
I have ridden in France for many years and find them to be the most bike friendly in Europe, they will give you loads of room to overtake, even the cyclists seem to like motos. The Swiss however will happily push you off a mountain rather than allow you to exceed a speed limit.!

I keep wondering when the rear rack topic will die of natural causes, had no idea it was connected to the exhaust system :alas: !

Re: Heated grips stuck on in position 1
Riding in the rain? Me? I don't think so. Really I think I do more miles in Spain than in the UK. I wash the bike with a pressure washer but not close up and I avoid certain bits like switchgear and wheel bearings.

Re: 2007 RT v 2014LC RT?
You get no interest on money in the bank anyway so get a bike ! If you are a bit budget conscious then go for nearly new as you don't get lumbered with paying for all the options. I have a '16 plate LC and can recommend it, great all round bike handles superbly, not too heavy, and performs really we...

Re: Heated grips stuck on in position 1
Since your bike is out of warranty and switches are expensive I would get some switch spray and apply it to the gaps around the switch then work it in by switching on/off high/low to attempt to clean the contacts and maybe displace any moisture within. I always wrap mine in cling film prio...

Re: Computer says No....
I would expect the settings memory to be in 'persistent memory' like say when you remove the battery from your phone you don't lose everything. It is likely that the loss of heat settings is deliberate.

Re: Trident and Garmin
I'd forgotten that any 2 GPS units would have to have the same parameters set like fastest route shortest, curvy roads etc before they would give the same route. But it did used to be way worse !

Re: Trident and Garmin
When I first started Euro touring with a bunch of pals, most had GPSs of different makes mounted on various Ram mounts and the devices never agreed on a route, when you reached a junction the Autocom radios ( this was a very long time ago) were buzzing with ' mine says left here' 'no mine ...

Re: Locking the Nav5 to the RT...
Traffic info from the radio is automatically fed to the Nav 5 , when in Switzerland it said road ahead is closed, none of my pals believed it and several miles later it was. I don't do music on the move though, my brain is not big enough to handle anything other than riding the bike.

Re: Unknown 2 inch piece of Rubber??
It looks like the sort of foam rubber that would be used between two surfaces which have the potential to rub against one another, or to seal a gap against dirt or water ingress, not come across it on the RT though.

Re: Falling into slow corners
You have my sympathy, I remember having a rear wheel puncture on a 1987 K100RT even after it was fixed I often felt that it was happening again, TPMS has cured all that. Sometimes the feel of the bike just straddling a tar over-banding on the road can instil a feeling of insecurity for a while. I al...

Re: RT LC Autocom & B2B Installation
I have an Autocom fitted to mine (2016) and a Kenwood PMR, I have the PMR tucked away inside the plastic cover on the nearside just forward of the pannier, although the radio is water resistant I have put it inside a ziplock bag, I had the same arrangement on my previous K1600. No problems for the f...
