Re: Another newb question - boxer engine preferred revs?
I've found that the pro shift works best when accelerating and decelerating hard, otherwise it can be a bit clunky and better results can be obtained by using the clutch. As to the revs it all depends on how you're riding at the time - obviously if you're riding hard then you're probably n...

Re: Navigator V - slow?
Same discussion. I'll not repeat myself but the keyword here is "compared to". If you've never had a different SatNav the Nav 5 will seem great. The fact is that compared to others with much faster processors etc. then it does seem slow.

Re: Alternative satnav
Don't get me started on car Sat Navs. Bought a new Auris last year and the Sat Nav is worse than The Nav V so I don't use it. The real problem is that these manufacturers have a multi year development cycle, so by the time things like satnavs reach the market they're already a few years out of date....

Re: Alternative satnav
I'm afraid you've not grasped my point. When I say difficult to see its the screen resolution and quality of graphics I'm talking about. And it certainly is slow, when compared to the speed of the iPhone App. Compared to the Tom Tom go I used to have about 8 years ago it's about the same. I.e. The t...

Re: Alternative satnav
You're absolutely right. The only thing that I'm disappointed about my recent purchase is the Nav 5. I've been using Tom Tom on my iPhone for a few years now so I got used to it's high res screen and speed of operation. The Nav 5 is difficult to see and is often so slow...

Re: I'm Thinking of trading in my F800GT for a R1200RT
Also don't forget that, regarding weight, it depends on where the centre of gravity is. My last bike (V-Strom 1000) weighed 236kg but most of this was a lot higher than my new RT. So despite being 38kg heavier I find the RT just as easy (if not easier) to push around the driveway.

I do like it, but I don't think my Mrs will let me spend any more money (i've only just had my 500 mile service!!)

Re: Turn Indicators auto cancel?
I too felt that I had to test this. I attempted to leave it on on several occasions, but there always seemed to be other road users around who would probably think i'd mad that classic mistake of leaving the indicator on by accident (we've all done it!!). Eventually I found one long motorway junctio...

Re: The eagle has landed
Micro SD arrived today. Re-installed/updated maps. Seems to be much happier now. BMW would get a lot more kudos if they supplied a 32Gb micro SD card with the Nav 5 - they'e so cheap these days.

Re: The eagle has landed
Picke mine up last Monday, just took it for a long ride with the Mrs on a lovely sunny day. My notes: Nav 5 has some serious issues - it kept locking up and basically didn't work (although this may have something to do with the fact that I tried updating the maps without enough memory).&am...

Wunderlich Elephant Tank Bag
I've realised that my old magnetic bag won't work anymore (!!) and I'm thinking about getting a replacement - don't really want to pay the BMW premium price. Has anyone tried the Wunderlich Elephant Tank Bag on a new RT LC? http://www.nippynormans.com/r1200rt-lc-2014-on/wunderlich-elephant-tank-bag...

Re: Digital Speedo
No way of changing it I'm afraid. And to make matters even more annoying if you are using the audio unit you cannot have the speedo at all. Analogue clock does show Kms though and of course you can use your Nav V So, the Nav V can show both then? I guess that's better than nothing.&nb...

Digital Speedo
Like a lot of people I'm hoping to pick up my new RT in a couple of weeks. I've even got a weekend in Bruge booked in May. What I was wondering, and from what I've read so far I don't have much hope, was whether the digital speedo was able to show KMH instead of MPH. I'd like to think so as my C4 Pi...
