Re: BMW topcase wiring/locks
I didn't get the BMW aux tail light for that very reason. There are many threads on here that speak to that problem. I opted to get an aftermarket LED, add a fuzeblock, and have the added benefit of it working as both tail light and brakelight. Intrigued by your solution mercato...

Re: 9 Easy Questions from a Lurking Newbie
Really you guys amaze me. What do you think the rest of us do. As I've said, I've never had a lockable sat nav. If your that worried you just push the button and stick it in your pocket 8) It's not that I mind the work of removing it, more afraid I will forget and it will be gone by the t...

Re: 9 Easy Questions from a Lurking Newbie
I wish BMW redesigned the top fairing around the SatNav for locking capability and I would buy the parts for retrofit. Its a pity they didn't do it for 2016 bikes. Its been over 2 years. I know you can take it off and store in the lockable compartment but its a PITA. Its when you stop for fuel and ...

I wish some engineering genius at Touratech or Wunderlich would design some kind of locking straps for the nav. They would sell like hotcakes if they did it right.

Re: 9 Easy Questions from a Lurking Newbie
I am newer to the RT myself, but here's my list: Best: 1) Performance and handling. Light by touring standards, it's basically a sport bike with a comfy seat, fairing and panniers. 2) Technology. Ride by wire, dynamic esa, anti-lock, traction control, navigation, TPM, heated seat...

Re: pannier minor damage
does anyone know if colored part of the pannier is replaceable ??[/size] Mine got scraped pretty well on the side as a result of a gentle drop. Body shop wanted $300-$400 to buff out the scrapes, fill, and re-paint. I ended up ordering factory color paint and clearcoat from Colo...

Re: BMW topcase wiring/locks
Order the CANopener today from Clearwater. You have to call them directly to get the part, it is not listed for sell on the web site....$200.00 plus shipping. Thank you timminatior for posting this work around. I have the same case, but did not have the light installed...

Re: Helmet storing /carrying
My Shoei fits in the pannier if you do it just right. If you have a bluetooth device on the side, it's tough to make the pannier work.

Re: BMW topcase wiring/locks
Mission accomplished gents. I removed the large cylindrical plug from the top-case and replaced it with a battery tender cable using the brown/grey wires. Put the same battery tender end on the CANopener3 module, red and black wires. Crimped the connections tight, shrin...

Re: Engine damage...?
Do you have the BMW engine guards installed, or any other aftermarket guards? From a stationary drop, you would have to be pretty unlucky to damage the engine itself. However, the cylinder head covers are brittle and can crack if you hit them just right. I dropped mine ...

Re: BMW topcase wiring/locks
No the Canopener connects inline with the TPS and reads the data and that allows the operation of their lights like the Darla (which I have to the front of the bike) and for you to use their rear brake light although you can use any LED supplementary brake light which is was I do as it operates the...

Re: Tyres pressure warning
Yes, tubeless. Not to state the obvious, but assuming you already checked for a nail or screw in the tire? If nothing is apparent, mist the tire with soapy water while rotating in on the service stand, the leak may be revealed where the bubbles form.

Re: R1200RT LC Screen
I was about to ask the exact same question, Casbar, I can never get my lower screen clean. Oddly, I seem to get dead bugs splattered on the *inside* of the windshield in various places too. I don't know if they are ricocheting off my body or what?
