Re: R1250rt oil warning error

I have always had that problem too. I just keep the oil level at 3/4 of the window full and it does not happen any more. Not a problem.

Re: GEARS changing loud / clanking on 2014 RT

Mine has always done that too. It is just the way that they made the bike and not to worry. Just live with it. If you shift gears 1-4 do it at low rpm's. That will help. I still love the bike and it will outlast me I am sure. The newer ones 17 and up don't do it because they redesigned them.

Re: Gel, Air or Bean pad etc ... Numb bum cure wanted

The original seat for me was just a chunk of soft bouncing foam. After an hour it was just constant moving around trying to get comfortable. A custom made seat for anybody is always worth the money. You go in and he looks at you on the bike and a seat is made. Then you go for a test ride and more ad...

Why are you needing to remove the cylinder head on a 2014?

Re: How do you unclip the low beam headlight bulb?

Hey! success! one side of the clip was easy, the other side took an hour. Now I have the technique down. It's done.
So I guess you don't have to take the whole dash apart like some other posts have said. I didn't really believe that the dealer would go through all that work just to change a bulb.

How do you unclip the low beam headlight bulb?

I have the dash all apart and still can't get my fingers to unclip the two wire springs that hold the bulb in. Is there a BMW tool for that?
If any of you have made a tool do you have a picture of what it looks like?

BMW logo on rear luggage

Some of the pictures of 2014's show a BMW logo on the rear luggage but mine has none. I have thought of putting the round logo on it that would match the one in the front. My old KRS has front and back so I think it is appropriate. My color is Ebony. Has anyone else noticed this?

Cleaning the windshield

Somewhere I read that you can lock the windshield in the up position by doing something. Does anybody know how? I don't want to have the key on when I do it.

Linked brakes

I was just reading an article about the bike and it mentioned using the front brake. I thought the bike had linked brakes like my old KRS. Does it have linked brakes?

I feel like I got hosed at the dealer for oil and filter

I knew this was coming but I am due for the 6000 mile service. I went to the dealer and asked for the oil and filter. It came to $87.17. I change the oil myself but this is still excessive for an oil change. I refuse to believe that the engine needs this overpriced oil. The tiny tiny oil filter was ...

Has anybody mounted any Skene Design lights.

If you look at youtube videos of them they look like the most visible lights out there.

Re: 2012 Gear shift adjustment

Just a note for anybody doing a 2014 or newer. You can't change the position on the splines due to a different design but since I maxed out the adjustment and had to make more room for my very thick boots I just shortened the adjusting rod with a grinder on each end and solved the problem.

I had a custom seat made today

I went to Rich's Custom Seats in Kingston Washington. The process takes about 4 hours and it's quite complicated. It takes him and 5 employees to do it. You get on the bike a few times so he can take measurements. There is a lot of cutting and gluing and layering. When it is done you take a test rid...

How do you aim your mirrors?

If I aim them out then I can't see behind me. Either way I always have a big blind spot. My truck has it right, they have another mirror under the big one for your blind spot. Why does this motorcycle have such small mirrors?

The small rear view mirrors

Mine are adjusted so that I see the bar end weights. Like this I need to move my head left or right to see what's behind me. I still have a blind spot though. I don't understand why in 2016 they haven't invented a mirror that shows it all so you don't have to do the swivel head move every time you w...
