R80RS

Just re MoT'd the old R80RS my uncle left me when he died. She's only done 27000 miles so barely run in !

This pic was taken in the exact spot I stopped in 50 years ago on my first moped at 16 years old :)

Re: Shift Lever Enhancement

I have a brand new 2024 RT and love it so far. I had surgery on my left big toe, which was fused last fall and upshifts have been a challenge and exhibit some pain. I was looking for ideas to maybe add some material over the stock rubber shift lever to soften the effort of up-shifting and relieving...

Re: Centre stand security

One of the z1000 touring model used to have standard fitment centre stand lock in the 90s. A new bike/scooter has one fitted, recently read but cant remember model. Always thought a good idea. Z1100 A1 I think you're refering to :D you can just see the keyhole for the ignition key on the footrest p...

50th Motorcycle Anniversary ... foodie trip :D

So, this years birthday was my 66th, a big one as I am now officially a state pensioner (still working though) However, more importantly for me was it represented my 50th year on motorcycles! Starting on a Honda P50 moped at 16 to the 5 bikes I own now of which the RT is the go to for touring trips ...

It was fantastic, a few days on the Cote d'Azur, a weekend at the Bol d'Or and an amble back via Italy>Simplon Pass, Switzerland and France

This is on the Simplon Pass

Re: On display...

It still rides surprisingly modern feeling, and according to the GPS will still record 150 mph (allegedly officer ;) ) This is her outside the Silverstone Hilton on a business trip to KTM UK when I was with KTM Chester, having just finished a commemorative lap of the circuit at Anglesey (hence the n...

On display...

Last weekend Halliwell Jones Motorrad Chester had a breakfast open day, one of their techs is an ex colleague of mine and they'd asked via him if they could have some of my bikes for their classic display. So they had my BoxerCup, the K1 and the R80-RS .... the HP4 is, sadly, not mine :D PXL_2024051...

Re: 2014-2020 Headlight Guard

I'm on my 2nd Slipstream one, the first succumbed to a large stone that fell off the back of a gravel wagon. I saw it bouncing off the road it hit the protector square on taking a large chunk out of it. Thankfully the headlight was unmarked. To me an absolute essential on an RT with its huge headlig...

Re: USB connections

hacks me off how many issues Apple create because they lock everything down as propriety to them. Same with trying to run Garmin stuff on Macs at times

Job changes

So .... from 2016 to 2022 I was sales at Chester Motorrad in Ellesmere Port then we changed franchise to KTM after BMW wanted cars and bikes in the same showrooms Recently (January) I was made redundant when the showroom closed, along with Chester HD. Farkle for my RT

Sounds lovely, not loud just a bassier tone, and there's a lovely crack to the exhaust note when using the quick shifter

Re: Electronic payment on French toll roads

I got a Bip n Go tag for my trip last September, it was a Godsend. My travelling companion cheaped out and didn't he ended up with major hassles including one situation where in temper he broke the barrier ... I've not spoken to him since but guess that the French authorities have chased him for rep...
