Re: Back from France

Interesting that the front of the bike was covered in bugs. I did 50 miles to Bristol and back last week. No bugs on the screen. Not one. Where have all the insects gone in the UK? Did the leave to go back to Europe after Brexit?

Re: Off to France. GB or UK?

They are not recognised by the E.U anymore. What ive just read is it has to be an oval white background and block black letters but no mention of legal size for an MC. I think( know) the EU is pi## off and making it hard for us English to ride in their country legally. Actually, it was the British ...

Re: Off to France. GB or UK?

Am off to France next week and think ive heard that since we left the E.U that the white with black GB oval stickers are now not recognised. It seems i need to buy a UK sticker. Does anyone know the minimum size i can get away with? Or is it standard size across the board with cars and bikes? I rep...

Re: Healthy Twin Cam Values.

Well, who knows? There is enough evidence on the forums to suggest the CPU adapts and adjusts to get the best engine management for the prevailing conditions. The booster plug requires a temperature sensor which fools the system into thinking it’s colder than it really is adjusts the mixture accordi...

Re: Healthy Twin Cam Values.

No. Bike is quoted for insurance purposes as having an £8000 value. However, they are all removable and therefore saleable if necessary. I listed them so that I had some indication of their value. Engine bash plate for example was purchased for £20 from Lithuania on EBay. It was unmarked and as new ...

Well you’d be surprised when you add them all up. I did this for something to do during lockdown. Needless to say I have not shown this to my wife.

Good to know. I have no intention of selling my 14k miles 2011 which has £3000 extras on it - but for the right price……;)

Re: Rear shock gone on my 2011 RT after just 14,000 miles

Well that’s a revelation. I looked into this warranty and it applies to BMW bikes up to 100,000 miles. Replacement of parts up to the value of the bike (about £7k) or £1000 whichever is the higher. Checked for my bike and it comes out at £30/month. The fuel strip plus VAT and labour looks like £300....

Re: Rear shock gone on my 2011 RT after just 14,000 miles

Yep. Replaced by CW Motorcycles of Dorchester here in the UK. Of course CW is no longer trading so i am asking BMW UK to cover the costs foc. Fat chance. I am at the end of my persuasion stage. I have, as requested by GB customer service and at my cost, had my Bristol Motorrad centre evaluate the fu...

Rear shock gone on my 2011 RT after just 14,000 miles

Well it looks like the seals have gone. I’m sure there are others here who have the same experience. What to do? Pay dealers £1650 + VAT + labour? Or fit a replacement Wilbers or Tractive? If the latter, who can do this local to Somerset? Any help would be welcome.

Manual does not mention E10 simply ROZ/RON and AKI grades. It is a 2011, hexhead.

E10 coming

I’ve got a 2011 rt. there is a lot of information in local fuel stops saying E10 fuel will be replacing E5. Does anyone know what effect, if any, E10 might have on the engine?

Re: Howz about a 1250 thread

Isn’t this idea called discrimination? Separate everything into tidy little boxes? It’s a boxer. All boxers should be on the same forum sub-group. Boxer issues, from mechanics, to riding, to farkling, have a uniqueness about them. Why does one group appear to not be interested in other similar groups?
