Re: Actual interval between valves needing adjustment on R1200RTW?

Hi Kooilt I do my own servicing on my 2014 RT wet head and the valve check is every 12K miles as you have in your post. I bought my bike in June 16 with 4.5K miles on. It now has 35200 miles and i have checked the valve clearance every 12K and never had to make any adjustments. Hope this gives you a...

Re: 2014LC Alternator Belt Change

it must have been on the previous engine version i saw it. i'm sure it was on one of the AS service schedules.

Thanks for your help with this. I also found a youtube video showing how the boxer engine works and there are no belts as you said.

Re: 2014LC Alternator Belt Change

WWWHHHHAAAATTTT!!!!

Maybe thats why the haynes manual doesn't refer to one. Maybe I have seen a schedule for the pre-2014 models. So are there any belts that need changing for the LC engines?

If not happy days 24K service finished.

2014LC Alternator Belt Change

Hi all and a merry Christmas.

Just a quick ask regarding the service intervals for the Alternator Belt. Am I right in saying its changed after 24K miles or every 6 years?

I have a 2014 LC.

I can't find any reference to it in the Haynes manual but I'm sure I have seen it somewhere.

Thanks all.

Re: Headlight aim - adjustment

Its only me riding with nothing in the panniers. I have the suspension set onto road so should all be ok.

Is there a measurement for the headlight aim. i.e. the bike a set distance from a wall and the headlight aim should be 3ft up or something like that?

Headlight aim - adjustment

Hi all, Does anyone know if you can raise the headlight aim in addition to the lever under the headlight itself? When I bought my RT the headlight beam seemed really high and even with the adjuster right down seemed a bit high. Then i had a run in quite literally with a pigeon and now its really low...

Re: tyre life

Just to keep the thread going and to give me pennies worth i have just changed my rear PR4 with 8700 miles completed and changing the front with 11000 completed. Front has cupped a bit so time to change. And guess what i'm putting on? you guessed it another pair of PR4's.

Re: FJR1300 I take it all back

Hi all, Hay CASBAR i'm guessing it SERV OBN? I'm also a volunteer with SERV OBN and have my first two rides on the new fleet of FJR's. Agree with what you said apart from the whining transmission. There seems to be two different sounds. A high pitch whine from the engine which on its own wouldn't be...

Re: Cylinder head cover bolt - sheared off. ahhhhhhhhhh

They flattened off the top of the sheared off fastener. Then drill the centre and then an easy out. They charged £50 and you can just google 'thread doctors' and then ping them an e-mail. I sent my e-mail in and then i was given the number of a local guy. Very helpful and knowledgeable. I would defo...

Re: Cylinder head cover bolt - sheared off. ahhhhhhhhhh

Hi all, Quick update. Thread doctors came out today and 20 mins later all sorted. They got the sheared thread out without damaging the threads and the replacement bolt screws in a treat. Lesson to all. Double check the torque figures before you set you torque wrench. Cheers for all the message of su...

Re: Cylinder head cover bolt - sheared off. ahhhhhhhhhh

The LC has 3 cylinder head cover bolts. The one thats sheared is just to the right of the tag in the first cylinder head picture.

The thread is not flush and sits about 3-4 mm below the surface of the cylinder head.

Saved about £200 on the service. Happy to hear if anyone has never made a mistake when servicing or fixing your own bike.
