Re: Temp Gauge on WC Bikes
Personally, I have a disdain in my soul for these stupid bars...WTF do those bars mean exactly? Why not just put a number for the temp that the radiator hits and thus, be clear about when the bike heats, cools, needs fan etc. I guess that's too much information to provide the consumer. Not as critic...

Re: 1st gear clunk
The clunk is the trademark of BMW. I believe they have it patented so that no other sports touring bike manufacturer can imitate it (...kind of like the HD muffler sound). And if you noticed, the japanese sports touring bike do not clunk. They are afraid to copy the BMW clunk. But since 'silence' ca...

Re: Change in weight and feel. When did it happen?
Hello all😀 I tried a 2016 Rt today at the dealer and it felt OK. Then I tried a used 2010 and it was like night and day. It seemed so much lighter and easier to straddle (I'm 5'6"). The salesman just said they're had been some changes, but he didn't know what or when. Does anyone have any idea...

Re: Brighter Low Beam, anyone?
I've tried a few LEDs but as stated if the wattage is not about right you not only get a warning but the offside main beam comes on as well. I tried a resistor but that gets red hot and cant be right. Shame really the GS has LED all round which looks better but not sure if it illuminates the road b...

Brighter Low Beam, anyone?
My center low beam on me wethead 2016 is kind of yellowish.
I was wondering if there was a 'whitter' or brighter replacement bulb?

Re: Fuel Stabilizer
When I bought my 2016 wet, the saleman handed me a little black bottle of fuel stabilizer and told me that BMW now recommends you put it in the tank every 6k or so.
Another service manager told me that was not necessary.
Now I am confused: to stabilize or not to stabilize

Re: Back to an RT
After three RT/s I decided to give the GT a try. The manufacturing quirks scared me till 2015; by then I figured the quirkeria would be over. Nope. My GT forks started to deteriorate in the middle of nowhere To me, the K16 are wonderful and fun machines, but they don't have the dependability of an R...

Re: Need advice on LOW SEAT option for r 1200RT
Just picked up a new RT a couple of weeks ago and had requested a low seat. Dealer collected the low heated seat from the parts department and fitted it when I collected the bike, so it's definitely available - used it yesterday and it really works. The seat is definitely wider than the GS I had pr...

Re: Need advice on LOW SEAT option for r 1200RT
I get the picture. I too like to 'sit inside the bike'; not on top like these we own. However, the previous RT I had with a low seat of my choice broke my butt from Seattle to CA. Because I do long tours, I have come to accept these 'seats in the clouds' type of arrangements in order to ha...

low seat problem will not be the heater, it will be your but discomfort. ANY low seat you buy is going to be on the 'hard' side.

Re: New 2017 gearbox clunk free.
I've been riding RTs since 2000. I"m afraid, things have improved ... a bit, but BMW gearboxes are leagues behind the Japanese. Trust me, I've owned both and the clunkiness of BMW gearboxes is something you just have to get used to. It seems to be an engineering p...
