Re: New 2017 gearbox clunk free.

Try the Yamahoo FJR.  If u can tolerate the high pitch vibration on the throttle side and u like more of a crotch-rocket feel u will spend less money, lower maintenance costs and have a great and fast bike. They come with a sixth gear nowadays. The RT is not the god's answer to motorcycle l...

Re: Back to an RT

New member so Hi to all. After 3 years on a K1600gt Ive decided to return to the RT. Returned from a 2 week trip to the Picos 3 weeks ago and for the first time I began to question the weight of the 1600, I was more aware of it than I had been in the past, I just didnt seem to gel with it anymore :...

Re: Considering an RT..

Consider it no more...GET! I was a Trophy owner but the Trophy is a well thought out design ill manufactured. I can imagine they are not making it anymore cause when I own one, all I experience and heard was trouble and deficiencies. The RT is a solid meat-n-potato bike. You can run these at 90 and ...

I traded a GT 2015 for a 2016RT. Maybe we should start a club

Re: Time to change ?

I traded a GT for a 2016 RT. Unfortunately, the last  of the 'key' was sold 15 min. before I got there so I ended up with a keyless.

I rather depend on my key in my pocket than on an electronic gadget to start the bike and open the gas tank. But to each his own

Re: Triumph trophy SE

Had a friend whose RT clutch went out around Vegas. The shops did not know what to do. He got on an RT forum and got info on a pattern of malignant clutch parts that where going out on the clutch. He went to a shop, explained, they order the part and he was on his way with no further problem. Amazin...

Re: New 2017 gearbox clunk free.

I recommended that BMW should learn Japanese, then take an FJR apart, and learn how to make a quiet tranny.

I dont see how those guys can sleep at night when the Japanese are making better trannies than them

Re: Triumph trophy SE

I know this is an BMW RT forum but did anyone consider the newish Triumph Trophy SE ? A friend of mine bought one and is very pleased With it ! Maybe not the same quality and I believe the controls are a bit of a faf but nearly 5k cheaper compared with the BM Stuart I had one. They are great while ...

Re: Four weeks in: Observations, comparisons, questions and photos - and a request

Well not constantly, I stayed at folks houses a bit. Some days I just stayed put to rest. I started riding this Summer in Mid May and stopped in Mid Aug. In April I doubled back home cause all I was doing was freezing and drinking rain water. I came out again in June and rtn home on Aug. I think I d...

Re: Four weeks in: Observations, comparisons, questions and photos - and a request

Excuse me, I hate to be a snob, but a 300 mi. is hardly considered a 'long ride' around here. You ll run into a pile of steel-butt swingers round here who will giggle at that. Which is probably the reason why your butt can tolerate the stock seat and shield. As you venture into, maybe a San Diego, S...

I like the way you are thinking here Barnes. Life is too short to worry about the small 'trade-in' stuff.

I might just paint my white. I like it simply white.

Re: Four weeks in: Observations, comparisons, questions and photos - and a request

My dreamcycle, at least before I bought RTW and maybe still when RTW gets too heavy for me, was a sport touring configuration that could best be summarized as:  curb weight of around 520lbs sacrificing little on the performance side and nothing on the comfort side, so looks like this: 950-...
