Re: Pannier won't attach - HELP!
Designed only to lock on when the lugs are fully seated is a good thing. Mine are the same. Often have to rock them on before they will lock. Once seated though no force is required whereas on the earlier type they feel spring loaded. My GT panniers (the same I think) were the same. Somet...

Re: Garmin Basecamp Very Difficult to Use
Well, to be honest I'm not a great basecamp fan, but having stuck with it for a while it works for me. Did a 300 odd mile jaunt around the south of England yesterday, with 8 planned stops, and it did exactly what I wanted. Yes it is clunky to use, and yes a company like Garmin sh...

Re: Touring Boots
TCX Infinity for me. OK they look a bit more off road than some, but they are three years old, waterproof, comfortable and still look like new.

I just hope they remember to engineer in the gearbox clunk. Just for nostalgia's sake.

Re: Disc lock.
For some reason RT's are not high on the theft list on this side of the pond, guess to many harleys and crotch rockets. A disc lock with some sort of streamer/cable to alert you to remove before riding would seem be the best choice i've found a cover does wonders to discourage casual miscrets, Read...

Re: Topcase lock jammed
Had a jammed lock on a pannier on the old GT while up in Scotland. Locksmith was going to drill it, so I took it to a dealer in Dundee. He put the key in the lock, whacked it, and hey presto up popped the latch. Seemed to think the issue was too much pressure on the loc...

Re: Changing the name of the color of my bike to...
I call mine 'colour blind black'. I am, so I don't give a monkey's. Can see a bit of red perhaps. Colours be the work of Beelzebub anyway. Says he who, a teenager back in the tasteless 70s, bought pink trousers thinking they were grey. It took three ...

Re: Winter Maintenance List
Hmmm. Give it a good wash, spray some ACF of FS365 over the metally bits (less discs!), quick spin on a dry day, stick it in the garage, put the greenhouse heater underneath, turn it on, put the cover over the top. Seems to have worked for a good few years. I'll ride it...

Re: Suggestions for gloves
One form of scuff protector I'd recommend was really cheap and cheerful. I bought a pack of aircraft film samples on flea bay for a few quid. They are about 8in by 5in. Originally they were to protect the frame of my pushbike from getting chipped on the bike rack at wor...

Re: Holding in first gear
I drop it into neutral more since having the hill assist or whatever its called. Seems to make sense because then you can let go completely without the bike rolling away. Really useful for me, but then maybe its my age needing to rest/stretch a bit more.

Re: Fuel Stabilizer
I'm in the 'fuel only' camp. Being a perverse soul, I usually run the tank down before winter and then either go straight to the nearest forecourt or fill up from a can of fresh fuel. This has worked fine for me on the last few bikes when leaving it in the garage through winter.&...

Re: Four weeks in: Observations, comparisons, questions and photos - and a request
Coming from a K1200GT to an RTW I expected a lot less weight (getting old and decrepit ! ). Wow the RTW is just as heavy to manoeuvre out of the garage as the GT, as for getting it on the main stand- much harder. I suppose the old trick of putting a half inch bit of wood under back wheel might chan...
