Take it off the bike. When you try and press the handle down, is the foot on the back of the case, locking up in position? It sounds the same as my 2012, which I'm told was a MU, with dynamic pack.

I have one now, thanks to the help and advice from mac47 on here. Mac even dropped it to the 'not so' local dealer, so they could rekey it for me on arrival. Thanks Mac. A note to anyone looking to rekey the pre-2104 lock. If you don't have the key available, the lock position HAS to be in the LOCKE...

I was told by the BMW mechanic, that it was a "life oil", which never needed to be changed.

Go as new as you can - even if the 2011 is a bit of a financial stretch, it will be worth it.
