Re: Timing bolt replacement...

Yes, I could easily have got them cheaper, but I've had problems before with inferior quality steel. I'm not saying yours are, but I wanted to be sure. It was made even worse because BMW transposed the part number I gave them, and sold me 12 bolts initially for £13.06!! It's been an expensive experi...

Timing bolt replacement...

My timing bolts were annoyingly rusty, which was playing havoc with my OCD.. So today, I swopped them for new ones. BMW only charge £27.94 for 12 bolts!!!!!! They're much easier to photograph under a UV light. As recommended by Datatag themselves.

DataTag Found

When I got my new (2nd hand) bike, there was no mention of a data tag. When I was cleaning under the swinging arm, I noticed a very faint number. A UV light revealed the data tag. I spoke to datatag, who confirmed that the bike had never been registered with them.  This meant that I could ...

The National Minimum Wage is £7.20 per hour, to pay the BMW Monkeys 1 hour, you'd have to work for 16.25 hours after tax.

It's daylight robbery!

I did get a 'free' cup of coffee....!

Does your invoice breakdown the cost of parts/labour.

Re: 2012 Twin Cam - Service Costs

If it helps David, I just had oil, filter, synchronisation, FOC visual check and valve clearance check for £252 at a main dealer, on my 2012 Twin Cam.

I used to have a Probe - it was a great car. Everyone loved the popup lights!

Fitted my engine covers.

Found there was enough clearance to fit the LHS with the side panels in place, but the RHS needed a full front panel strip. I was impressed how well all the fasteners came off. http://i921.photobucket.com/albums/ad54/sullivj/CCA5CABB-D004-4130-9ADD-5CFEA6F54BEE_zpsqnm2unlw.jpg http://i921.photobucke...

Re: Overheated cylinder mystery?

Could it have been repainted with non VHT paint?

The spark cover doesn't seem to have distorted in the heat.

Whatever the cause, it doesn't look great.
