Re: SW Motech Pro city tank bag question.

I have an R1200RT and it fits great without rubbing. Not sure if the 1250 has the same tank.

Re: Wunderlich vs Illium Protection Bars?

I tried both on my 2016 RT. The Illium installed easier and you could remove the valve covers without removal. I have tested them (inadvertently) several times and they work as expected.

Re: BaseCamp for windows

I had 4.7.2 installed. I launched it, then went to help and it offered to install 4.7.3. I clicked the link to update and it updated without issue. I did not get a pop up or other notification that the update was available. I had to go to help and that's where I saw the update link to 4.7.3.

Re: admore brake light

I've done it on my RT and another bike as well. The instructions are pretty straight forward if not a bit tedious. There are a lot of connections to make and finding all the right wires to splice into can be fun. I would highly recommend using Posi-Lock connectors for the job. The work great and are...

Re: BMW Repair Manuals DVD problem

My suggestion would be to simply uninstall the Symantec software and go with the built in Microsoft product. It's now as good as all the others and there's been plenty of issues with the 3rd party software causing real problems. They simply can't get the access to the operating system that the mothe...

How much is a gallon of petrol over there now? Bet it's cheaper than the UK.
Lowest price is USD2.53/gal for midgrade
Highest price is USD4.31/gal - California

2.79USD/gallon equals  0.57GBP/liter if my calculations are correct.

Re: First Time BMW Owner

The only complaint I currently have about the R1200RT that I cannot address with an upgrade is the dark instrumentation/gauge display. The instrument panel tilt can be adjusted. If it's an issue with polarized sunglasses changing the angle might solve your problem. If I tilt my head just right whil...

Re: Tips On Handling

I took a week long motorcycle cop training class a couple years ago. I had only been riding for about a year at the time. We used old Harley Road Kings. These 950 lb beasts were quite a challenge. First thing they taught was how to pick up bike after it fell. Bikes had crash bars and were dropped a ...

I guess I would prefer anything but a Harley.

Please recommend a Bike Hire Company in UK

I will be traveling to the UK next week to attend a funeral. I'm going to have a couple days of free time in the middle of the week. I'm thinking of hiring a motorcycle and riding to either Scotland or Wales. My home base will be west of Birmingham near Stourbridge.

Check out Furkot Road Trip Planner. Routes can be easily uploaded to Nav. There was a seminar on it at last year's US National Rally in Des Moines. I like it a lot.

Re: Low seat or lower suspension

If you do end up going with a lowered suspension, I can highly recommend Tractive Suspension's lowered shocks!  The guys at Tractive were the original designers of the ESA system for BMW.  After forming their own company, they have made significant improvements to that original de...
