Re: Knee replacement

Hi, I’ve had both knees replaced, one last year and the other two years before that. The good news is that I’m now fully mobile and can ride my bikes quite happily ( just been toSpain and Portugal). The bad news is it takes about 10-12 months to get full movement and function back and it’s essential...

Re: Puff of Smoke

Sorry to say but there is nothing in the fuel that will help lubricate the valve after it has being burnt if there was it would destroy the catalytic converter Its a hard thing to keep lubricated as the heat just burns everything off and once is starts to seize it will just happen again and again I...

Re: Puff of Smoke

The same one that will cause the problem again and again! Best to disconnect it and remove the motor and fit an eliminator! I had issues with mine and tried twice to stop it seizing then just spent £40 and removed everything I could https://www.healtech-electronics.com/products/ese I agree that if ...

Re: 1200rt tyres like a cat

I can highly recommend the Michelin Pilot Road 2's, I'm 6k miles into a pair riding in all conditions on my RT now and they're purr'forming (see what I did there) excellently! and at around £170 a purr (again) you can't go wrong. They don't have any of the 'GT' nonesense printed on the side because...

Re: Speaker space

I have a 2016 1200RT and store a puncture repair kit in one speaker stowage and a mini compressor in the other, both in their cases. No problems with heat, they fit neatly without any problem. I have a small screwdriver in one of the panniers to enable me to remove the speaker covers if required. Se...

Re: wunderlich screen

I thought about a tinted one but glad I didn’t as it’s a big screen and you’d effectively be looking through a darker screen the whole time which I wouldn’t want, especially in lowlight conditions.

Re: wunderlich screen

Wow, that’s quite an admission on their part. At least they’ve offered to replace it. I found it very good so I say stick with them.[emoji106]

Re: wunderlich screen

Thanks all for confirming I have a Wunderlich already and the wings are touching the standard wind deflectors and I have a lot of reflections on the screen if I put it all the way up I like the screen but there is something not right with it! I will be contacting the seller and express my opinion I...

Re: Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?

This video shows the exhaust valve in action whilst the bike is being ridden, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO-pPKzu_NI "Having freed up the exhaust flapper valve I was interested to see it in action. The answer is that the valve is fully open (anti-clockwise, against the stop) the vast majo...

Re: Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?

Is it possible that the debate over "emissions" is confused with the ULEZ requirements. TfL currently have one government appointed test centre where motorcycle exhaust emissions are tested with exhaust gas analysis equipment, (like on a petrol car MOT). There is no mention of noise testi...

Re: Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?

Agreed, https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-motorcycles/8-exhaust-noise So, reading the MOT requirement for noise it says that it’s checked for “unreasonable” noise at half throttle (without any db limit specified). As the exhaust valve opens at anything above idle then it’ll make...

Not necessary. Take the butterfly valve out and fit a Healtech servo eliminator.

Re: Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?

Yes you have been lucky, nothing to do with fuel. My first 2014 RT, I used 98 or plus fuel, but still had two failures, and two new headers. So nice theory but rubbish. Sorry Well, like I say, my independent BMW mechanic agrees with me so I’d rather believe him, sorry! Has a lot of sense to it, too ...

Re: Exhaust Flap Valve stuck at around 1000 miles - is this a record?

Maybe I’m just lucky, but after five years and 25,000 miles I’ve had no problems with the exhaust valve on my 2016RT. I put this down to only ever using Shell V Power fuel which has additives and detergent in it which I believe keeps the valve shaft bearing from seizing. My local BMW independent mec...
