Re: It's here!

How big is that top box? 52L http://www.givi.co.uk/cases/Monokey/TRK52N%20TREKKER I commute to work by bike and my work bag holds two laptops, my lunch, and a pair of work shoes (along with a bunch of other random clutter). I used to have a 45L Givi box but I couldn't fit the bag in it, it fits nic...

Re: Autocom 2273

It is on all the time when you turn on the ignition.  What you hear is what you set it at.  And yes, Aux will give you and any pillion the sat nav prompts Currently I'm turning my audio system off when I don't need to use it as otherwise it 'hogs' the central display and I don't g...

Re: It's here!

I didn't know the engine was going to be black and I agree, it looks amazing. Looks nice.  When do the blue lights get fitted? :enjoying: Complete co-incidence of course but I went out today and bought a yellow flourescent bomber jacket to go over my Rukka jacket (my existing one was red a...

Re: Fitted a New Aftermarket Screen

Serious question - I sometimes wear glasses at night to ride in, how do you stop them misting up, is there a coating you can put on I have to wear prescription vari-focals to ride with (one of the downsides of getting old I guess) so the whole fogging thing is something I am uncomfortably familiar ...

Re: Autocom 2273

Sorry if this is a stupid question - and also if it is one that has been answered umpteen billion times already... Let's say I install my intercom (I have a Starcom1 rather than an Autocom but it's probably the same cable) and I connect it up to the speakers as described. On this hypothetical occasi...

It's here!

Picked up my new R1200 RT LE from Bowker Motorrad yesterday afternoon. Fitted the front mudguard extender and the mounting plate for the Givi monokey topbox (that was a lot more work that I was expecting) and then got out this morning to start putting miles on the bike. I have already booked it in j...

Re: Autocom 2273

Out of curiosity, how does the connection work? I have read that it wires in to the speaker wires - does that mean the speakers are disconnected, or that (heaven forbid) they are on all the time while you are also using the intercom? Or is there some clever gadetry that means you can use the interco...

Re: Greetings and introduction

Quick update with the news that my new bike was due to arrive at the dealers today (sales guy's day off today so I won't know for certain until I talk to him tomorrow). They have promised to try and turn it around in time for me to collect on Saturday. To say I am excited would be serious understate...

Re: Bike Warranties

When the ESA failed on my GS it was the motor that adjusts the preload. According to the dealer the whole thing comes as a unit but I guess the shock itself can be swapped out as a separate item. Regarding warranties and whether you do or don't, it's like breakdown insurance. Most of us will be luck...

Re: Bike Warranties

Having had the ESA assembly on my GS (apparently ~£1600 excluding labour) replaced by BMW under extended warranty I'm a fan. Like has been said above, it's basically an insurance policy - each of us has to decide on where their comfortable balance is with this sort of thing.

Re: Goretex gloves

So BMW ship them half way round the world and don't add anything on.  Brilliant. That's one way of looking at it. The other way is to work out just how much markup the UK dealers must be applying if the dealer in Vietnam can still make a profit at the same price despite all the additional ...

Re: I can't keep it a secret any longer...

Speaking as someone who is moving from an LC GS to a new RT I can wholeheartedly recommend the GS. If I was just going for 'fun factor' I would be keeping the GS. Admittedly I only have the test ride on the RT for comparison but I found it to be a less engaging ride. The GS encourages me to throw it...
