My new to me 2011 came with an Optimate 4 that came with the BMW plug. Prior owner bought the bike new and used the Optimate for his 5 years of owning it with no problems. I don't think they are that expensive bit I'm not sure. Good Luck.

Aftermarket batteries, ah rating, gel vs. agm
I'm looking for an aftermarket battery for my 2011 R1200rt. I found a Bikemaster that fits but the AH is 16 or 17 instead of 19 as per manual specs. Will this be a problem? Any suggestions re Gel vs. AGM or manufacturers/retailers? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Roger.
