Re: The instruments still remain on (speedometer and tachometer)
Got nothing for you except maybe the battery is shot? I know low batterys drive canbus nuts but do not know what all the symptoms may be. What was the last thing done to the bike? Sometimes this helps going to the last thing done and checking it. May need a GS-911 to see what may...

I bet you are correct on that. It explains it pretty well I think.David. wrote: Is there a difference between Europe (UK) & US map versions.

Re: Weeping Water Pump
I had this at like 489 miles. Dealer said let it go and if it continues he would replace the pump. I wiped it off and in 10,000 it has not ever done it again. Odd how this weep thing works. Worse on the 1600's from what I read. I was in no hurry to h...

Re: Final Drive Oil Change
I am also in the camp of changing FD fluid on every oil change. No other reason but it is so easy and I want to make sure nothing is going on by inspecting the magnet drain plug. I am not as scared on the RT FD as I was the LT. I had a 8 mile trike FD that I carried to New Englan...

Re: 2017 vs 2016 model year
I'm looking to get a 1200rt and found a new 2016. I could save at least 1k by purchasing this instead of a '17, but I know there are some differences (lean angle ABS, for one). I know not much about BMW bikes. I currently own Harleys and Ducatis, so I'd like the opinion of those...

Re: Exhaust Pipe Flap Valve Thingy
I am not sure if it does generate a fault code? I would hope so but you still need a way to read and interpret the code. I do know with the GS-911 it is a service feature and it checks the operation of the valve. I would assume the dealers super computer does the same thing and r...

Re: Hesitation at 4,000 revs?
His GS-911 allowed him to reset your transmission. When that is done you must do a "re-learn" to the transmission by running the bike in every gear for 5 seconds I think it is. This needs to be done on updates at the dealer and at home if you reset the ECU with a GS-911...

Re: Exhaust Pipe Flap Valve Thingy
I believe it's main function is to cut down on noise. However it also must add back pressure to the motor, but how much or how important I would not be able to guess. I know without it, it would be more flow at certain times or area of RPM so I would think you would need to add f...

Re: 2014 - onwards LC Air Filter Replacement
I use a K&N. Either of the two filters mentioned here are as good as OEM. I do an oil analysis on every change, car and bike. If a air filter is not working your silicates will be high and noted in the UOA. On both the car and bike Silicate come back fine with no no...

Just had my silencer off on 64 plate (Sept 2014) RT to remove the wheel. The bike is outside warranty but is covered by the 'Assured Warranty' which I took out when the original expired. While it was off I checked the valve in the exhaust pipe to find it seized solid. Whe...

Re: Performance tuning kit for R1200RT (Air/Oil cooled)
I use a Power Commander V with Autotune, and a Pod 300 to monitor AFR on each cylinder, TPS, and RPM. And Dyno Tuned on 93 octane. gas. On a brand new Dyno it put out 113 HP and 88 foot pounds of torque. Very close to the 10% loss quoted at crank to the real rear wheel numbers.&a...

Meanwhile, all liquid-cooled boxer models will be fitted with a judder damper on the transmission output shaft. New features also include a revised selector drum actuator, transmission shafts and transmission shaft bearing.
Very big upgrades IMHO.

Re: High octane fuel - worth the extra for the LC?
This is what my Owners Manual says
Recommended fuel quality
Super unleaded (max. 10 % ethanol, E10)
89 AKI (95 ROZ/RON)
89 AKI
So it is recommended the preferred gas is Super Unleaded.
If not available 89 will work.
