Re: High octane fuel - worth the extra for the LC?

Had we been talking about the previous model it would of been a different answer as BMW recommended RON98 and RON95 at reduced power. As it's no longer in the manual I very much doubt the bike is configured to take advantage of the higher rating. [attachimg=1] This is from the EU Owners Manual corr...

Re: High octane fuel - worth the extra for the LC?

Yes the differences in how and what octane fuel is in your part of the world is always a issue. Those are AKI which has a formula to convert.  The bikes manual calls for 91 AKI and 89 AKI.  Here in USA, PA  we have 87,89,91,93 octane available.  I use 93 as that i...

Re: High octane fuel - worth the extra for the LC?

If you got to BMW website, pull up the RT and specs it explicitly states Premium fuel.

This can be worse than a oil thread.

It calls for 91 and you can use 89 IF the 91 is not available, but the preferred fuel is 91.

Re: Canbus Connector Location

LC Cool shows the location perfect. Like I said I could not get under there with fat hands. It is those two black screws in his picture and I believe the rest is just snap in tabs to remove the silver cover. Then you can work on it a bit easier. It is not a big deal to take the silver cover off. I a...

Re: Canbus Connector Location

PS you do not have to remove the silver tray just the pillion seat go to the web site https://hexezcan.com it is very easy to install and set up. Again that is a GS they are showing not a RT.  The RDC unit not accessed the same on a RT and a GS.  If you have one and use one on a R...

Re: Canbus Connector Location

You need to remove the rear silver plastic plate to expose the RDC unit on a RT.  Now if you have small hands and know how the plug is oriented you can just loosen the screws and do it but my advice is go through the hassle of pulling the silver plate. The GS is sits right there as their in...

Re: Unusual Tyre wear?

My Z8's wore just as yours did.  At 7900 miles I had to take them off.  They hadplenty of tread but when laying it over on either side or working the bike through fast corners each way I was scared to death.  You could feel them going over those ridges each time. ...

Re: GS-911

And remember that you can have 10 bikes in one GS-911 so cost can be spread out.  Really is something that on my 07 LT was a nice tool to have but still had to flush all the ports on the ABS block in a specified order. On the new Wetheads you have to have this to do the ABS correctly.&n...

Re: Brake Flush

Yes the GS-911 has a brake flush procedure under service.  If you see the first pic that is what was being done on the rear brake.  I filled the rear brake container and used that service feature until it ran clear at the nipple on the brake caliper.  You hold the pedal or...

Re: GS-911

If you do your own services the GS-911 will pay for itself quickly.  Turning the service light off after oil change.  Being able to bleed your own brakes with the GS-911 will save you 200 bucks.  The GS-911 does many service functions that you can not do without it.&nb...

Re: Gear Shift Assist Pro

Out of warranty, It was fine when i last used it first run after the winter wouldn't work? If anyone has a GS-911 around you they can reset the transmission, then you need to re learn it by running it in each gear for 10 seconds.  Just saying maybe just needs reset for some reason.&nbs...

Re: Tinnitus and Touring

I have used this for 13 years now. http://www.earplugstore.com/custom-musicians-earplugs.html I used to get them done at rally's but I use this one now. You take your own molds and it is pretty cost effective. It makes a huge difference! You can hear music at much lower levels.  Wind noise ...

Re: Brake Flush

Are the pistons not ceramic ? They looked metal to me just black coated, anodized,or it could have been coated. They did clean up nice but at only 8000 miles I expected them too.  As I said I only used a toothbrush and brake cleaner.  Regardless of composition you want to remove t...

Brake Flush

I needed new sneakers so while I pulled the wheels I figured I would install speed bleeders and flush the brakes. Here is the rear flush.  Notice the bag color to where the tube connects you can see where it ran clean.  This was using the GS-911 to flush the ABS block. http://www....

Re: Brake light

My top box does not have facility for BMW one, i am going to use a HEX ezCAN so i can connect straight to that without dealer input but i want a nice bright light. With the ezCAN all you need is a license plate bracket with a led light in it.  I used this one: https://store.58cycle.com/SIG...
