Re: Top Box BMW and Givi - Back Rest

I bought the 2013 model top box from a German supplier through eBay. It fits on the LC mounting plate and comes complete with a back rest. It costs under £400 so is much cheaper than the latest model. You don't get central locking or high level brake light but you can get a lock barrel and link it t...

Re: Clearwater Billie Brake Light

Timminator,

Thanks, I've spent ages trying to upload the photos.  I have tried uploading them into the forum gallery but that does not work either. I have reduced their density but that is not working either - fed up with this.

Re: Clearwater Billie Brake Light

Ok, so here are some photos. Showing how I have mounted the Billie Brake Light below the number plate, how I have spaced off the top of the number plate to make it a bit more vertical and lastly how I have routed the cable (it's stuck in place with some clear glue).  Not a work of art and I...

Re: Clearwater Billie Brake Light

I would be interested in seeing how it is mounted in the US using your number plate format. Would really appreciate a photo.  Thanks.

Re: Clearwater Billie Brake Light

The biggest issue was where to mount it. The unit is in a very well made and machined aluminium case with two fixing brackets at the top. I will upload a picture shortly. Initially I thought about trying to fix it to the top box rack but could not figure out a way to do it. Then I considered trying ...

Re: Clearwater Billie Brake Light

Update. So I have fitted the Billie Brake light - if anyone runs into the back of me it is because they have had their retinas burned by the brightness of the light!! I mounted the light onto the bottom of the number plate as that was the easiest way given the location of the mounting brackets. The ...

Re: Clearwater Billie Brake Light

I have the miniature version. In the U.K. we do not have the same licence plate holder as you do in the US, instead we simply screw the licence plate onto the plastic mudguard. Also our licence plate is a different size to yours in the US, ours is much bigger (and it's not often that the UK can say ...

Clearwater Billie Brake Light

Has anyone here bought and fitted a Clearwater Billie Brake Light? I have and I am wondering where is the best place to mount it.

Thanks.

Re: BMW Clothing Availability

I bought BMW clothing from Lloyds of Carlisle when I got my RT and they were very helpful. I bought the grey BMW jacket with yellow sleeves which is last year's model and being sold at a discount, if you haggle. Some dealers are also selling it on eBay, again at a discount. In my humble opinion it's...

Re: Underseat lock

Bertie's comment regarding the variety of responses he received has prompted me to think about what we say on these forums. Might I offer the following observation. If we were a group of friends having a discussion then some might throw in comments of a slightly derogatory nature, purely as humour b...

Re: Tinnitus and Touring

I use soft ear plugs and look for the highest SNR (noise reduction) rating I can find, currently at SNR: 39dB.
Can you tell me which brand / type of ear plugs you use. Thanks

Re: Paint/lacquer issues

I had a R1100S Boxer Cup Replica that had some corrosion to the bottom of the fork legs - a common problem. I repainted them with Hammerite Silver spray, I think it was satin finish. The finish looked very good. Be careful what primer you use as some look fairly innocent but if you real the label yo...

Re: Power Source on LC

In front of the battery is a jump start terminal, covered with a red plastic plug.  You can connect to that for your positive feed and then back onto the negative terminal of the battery.  To gain access you will need to remove the right fairing panel that your knee rubs against.
