Helmet and Clothing For Sale

Having encouraged my wife to return to biking we bought the full kit for her (naturally). Sadly, her right hip has deteriorated and she has decided that her biking days are over; so the following items are for sale.  She only came on one ride with me, a journey of 100 miles, so everything i...

MachineArt Cylinder Head Protectors - R1200RT LC NOW SOLD

Purchased from Nippy Normans only 500 miles ago, these head protectors are a neat alternative to crash bars.  I fitted them to my (soon to be sold) R1200RT LC LE https://www.nippynormans.com/machineart/protection/machineart-x-heads-for-1200-lc-models-pair-r1200gs-lc2013-on-2017-on-adv-lc-20...

BMW R1200RT top box bag - For Sale NOW SOLD

I have a 2016 R1200RT LC LE to which I fitted a BMW top box (not the current one with the integral tail light but the previous model). I bought the BMW fabric bag that sits within the top box and there it has rested for the last 3 years, only being used when I took the bike for its MOT (the bike is ...

Machineart Moto Fender Extender for R1200RT LC - For Sale NOW SOLD

Having decided to swap my bike, I have available for sale a Machineart Moto Fender Extender - £28 including p&p. Purchased new from Nippy Normans, it is 'as new' as my bike has done less than 1,000 miles in 4 years (hence the reason for swapping it). https://www.nipp...

Re: Battery replacement OEM or Lithium Ion??

I bought a replacement battery from Motorworks for £62.40. It came the next day, fitted perfectly and has performed faultlessly.

Re: Impersonating a police officer

Back in 1998 I had a Volvo 850 in white. The Cheshire police motorway cars were white volvo 850 estates. Quite often I would drive along the outside lane and the traffic would move out of my way like the parting of the Red Sea !!

Re: 2020 Annual RT Meet

Count me in for the ride and for any evening dinner gatherings. My wife will probably join me as well. Her sister lives only a few miles away so we will stay with her and travel up to Peterborough.

Re: Changing battery.

Bought a new battery for my 1200RT from Motorworks. Outstanding service ! Ordered Friday afternoon, delivered Saturday morning and with really robust packaging so that the battery would not be damaged. I chose the Motobatt battery, which fitted perfectly and came fully charged.

Re: Clearwater LED Spots - fitment

I have the same lights fitted to my 2016 1200RT and I agree that they are fantastic. One word of caution - I had the bike MOT’d recently and the tester said that it was illegal to have the spot lights flashing with the horn (I also had yellow filters on the spots and he failed those as well). Otherw...

Autocom Super Pro Automatic Kit SPA2 plus bluetooth adaptor

I bought this kit to fit to the bike in May 2017. However since then my wife has suffered from a bad hip and has been unable to ride pillion. We had thought that it might improve but the reality is that she has probably ridden pillion for the last time (not happy). So, the kit is for sale, unused ap...

Re: R1200RT panniers

I had a similar problem and had the lid repainted. A small local spray shop did it and had the paint mixed at a place in Middlewich - it is a perfect match. I had the top box sprayed at the same time and from memory only paid £200 for the lot.

Re: Roads spoiling the riding?

Cheshire East council in the UK issued a statement to say that they do not carry out pot hole repairs in the winter as it is cheaper to do them in the summer. They also have a policy that if the pot hole is not deeper than 150 mm it does not need repairing. Remind me again why I pay my Council Tax.&...

Re: A Place To Chat

I am currently sitting in Manchester airport at 5 am waiting for a flight to Germany and thought that I would browse the forum (what else is there to do?). I do like the forum and the advice offered on various topics. I can take or leave some of the comments because they reflect life in general. I h...
