Re: Proper technique for passenger mount/dismount?

Yup, I’ve been attempting to ask my wife to step through instead of kicking over the top case. I ask her to put her hands on my shoulders while I sit on the bike with the side stand down and the bike leaning on it’s left side. Perhaps I should have the bike upright? I guess we will have plenty of ti...

Proper technique for passenger mount/dismount?

So, after 30+ years of riding mostly solo, the RT was purchased partly to enable tandem riding. So far so good, but my wife (5’3”) is having a problem mounting and dismounting as a passenger. She uses the “kick” technique and attempts to kick over the rear case (large), which is not only difficult b...

Re: 2013 RT fuel strip issue - what are indicators?

So I took my bike (MY11)  to a local dealer, with a copy of the service bulletin in my hand two weekends ago. The past service history stated that the pump was replaced, but the fuel strip was not. One of the tech said something about a redesigned fuel strip is available and that should do...

Re: 2013 RT fuel strip issue - what are indicators?

Mine has the same symptom. The gauge goes up to full when it reaches approximately at 1/4 full. Jumps up and down a few times and creates havoc with miles to empty counter. Ive been using the odometer as precaution and filling up every ~200 miles Honestly speaking since I got my '11 only a few month...

Re: "Distance in a Day"

Two round trips in a day between Boston and Queens. 800 miles of absolute bliss (J) on a 1987 Hurricane.

That was almost 30 years ago.

I surely wouldn't want to do that today to my (50+ year old) body, even on a cush ride like an RT!

Just zip ties. I used the holes for the tank bag mout.

My $5 tank bag

$366 for a tank bag? That's how much a genuine BMW tank bag costs on Amazon. EBay had a few on the listing, but many went for $100-$200 for well-used ones. Damn BMW? Why make things difficult for the common folk? All I wanted was a place to put my maps on the tank while I'd ride, and I did not need ...

WANTED Front crash bars for DOHC Hexhead--US

Anyone willing to part with theirs? Silver/gray would match my rear pannier bars. Will consider other colors.

Dropped the bike TWICE this morning. Aaaaargh! (but with some positives)

It's been about 8 weeks and 2500 miles of owning a (new to me) '11 RT-low. As it's been completely incident-free, I had started to think I had wasted money by buying protectors and other gadgets. Of course the bliss didn't last too long. The morning started as normal, pulling the bike out of the gar...

Re: Full TFT dash

From what I read the new dash does contain sat nav but only via a phone app but it's a basic set up, i.e. it's arrows only so they still recommend the Navigator to get full mapping Are you suggesting it could be the first application of MirrorLink http://www.mirrorlink.com/ (or Android Auto/CarPlay...

Re: Full TFT dash

I have a TFT display on one of my other bikes. The main benefits are: -Use under bright conditions (The LCD display can be hard to read when it's covered under the shadow of the dash) -Changes to colors under different ambient lighting conditions (e.g. Dark background at night, bright white during d...
