Re: Stepper motor

Thank you for the responses. So I need a gs911? Changing the parts seems easy enough. The fact bmw just calibrated them this needs doing again? What happens if I just swap them over? The mechanic at my garage does not have any diagnostic equipment so not sure how he was going to do this and calibra...

Re: Stepper motor

Stepper motors can lose their 'count' and cause rough idle and stalling, but each key-on cycle re-sets them at their zero.  Plugging into a GS-911 can re-zero them (and lock them out at zero for throttle body balancing as well). From what I understand, diagnosing a bad stepper motor is almo...

Re: Rear PowerSocket

My wife's heated vest has an SAE connector, so I replaced the rear PowerLet plug entirely.  I found an SAE plug that fit perfectly in the hole left by the PowerLet plug and wired it directly (fused) to the battery.  As an added bonus, I can now plug my battery charger in without ha...

So I went with JetHot ceramic coating. Had to remove and send away, but I think it was worth it.

Worked great and now they never blue.
YMMV.

Me too, but I went with black.

Re: Proper seat hight

If you decide you want to change shocks to lower the RT, I would highly recommend Ted Porter at Beemershop.  I went with Tractive Suspension lowered shocks, and while NOT cheap, they are a million times better than the OEM shocks and get my feet comfortably on the ground. Keep in mind, if y...

Re: Wunderlich Gopro mount

I went for one of these https://www.nippynormans.com/touring-essentials/wunderlich-front-camera-mount-r1200rt-lc-r1250rt This is a small sample of the what I captured today. Not perfect, there is a certain amount of bouncing up and down which may be because I was struggling to get the bolt tight en...

Re: Wunderlich Gopro mount

Looks pretty professional to me. Where is it designed to mount on the bike? It mounts on the windshield brackets using the 2 bottom torx screws (using longer screws). It takes literally 2 minutes to pop it on or off, and not much longer to set up the camera. I don't have a photo of it on the bike (...

Re: LED headlamp (specific bulb question)

I have used CarRover LED's (low and high beam) with great success (as has Realshelby). We have found the beam pattern to be spot on. Cut off is good, spread is good, light colour excellent. Based on your (and Realshelby's) positive review of the CarRover LED's, I tried them out on my '06RT as well ...

Re: Low seat or lower suspension

I would try a low seat first, before spending considerably more on lowering the bike.  If the low seat works, great.  If not, start saving your pennies... I put HyperPro lowering springs on my RT, which made the ride quite harsh.  They were just a temporary solution for my...

Re: Wunderlich Gopro mount

The camrack looks nice but it's €145 ($166) on the US site vs €79.90 ($91) on German site. Yikes! I had that same "Yikes!" so I made my own... Total cost = less than $25 CAD for a 3' chunk of flat aluminum bar, a tripod gopro mount, and hardware (including some hard rubber washers for vib...

Re: Blueing

I wonder if mine are chrome. They are discolouring. Is this not suitable for chrome pipes? My understanding is that the stainless exhaust goes brown, and the chromed exhaust goes blue/purple. I'm getting the stainless headers on my '06 RT ceramic coated, primarily for the heat reducing benefits, bu...

Re: highway pegs

+1 for IliumWorks!!! I recently installed them on my 06 RT, and absolutely LOVE them.  I special ordered them powder coated in black, which looks great & almost hidden under the dark panels around the cylinder heads on my silver/grey RT. As an added bonus, their highway pegs system does...

Sorry, I just grabbed that photo off the internet, as I didn't have a readily available picture of the dash/handlebars on my own RT :(

Re: RAM mounts for mobile phones

Great. Is it an M8 fitting then? Think I need a new Torx head to remove the current ones - biggest in my set at the moment is T25! Yes it is.  You can install it vertically in place of any of the 4 mounting bolts on either side of the handlebars, or even horizontally in place of the bolt o...

Re: RAM mounts for mobile phones

I used that RAM Motorcycle Handlebar Clamp Base (RAM-B-367U) on one of the handlebar mounting bolts and a short double socket arm to mount my Garmin GPS.  It's down low, between the handlebars and doesn't obscure my view of the dash at all.
