Re: Insurance

Always question the renewal cost and ask if they ca do better. Clearly the can and do since new customers can be at reacted by large discounts. Why Bike insurance companies don't reward loyalty and prefer rip off tactics is beyond me. I stayed with IAM Surity expecting to leave after this years pric...

Re: what if

Agree with most of the comments here. I've had an 1150rt which was until now the best bike I ever had. Kept it 8 years, 32k miles, serviced by me no issues whatsoever. K1600, great engine, pretty quick for a big heavy bike. Now on a 1200 RT wet head, apart from top speed, the acceleration and handli...

Re: Learning the R1200RT #6 - Motorways and the Hi-Vis Conundrum

Looking good! A thinking rider. My tuppence worth: 1st The hi vis markings on service vehicles are regulated. They are particular to vehicles that may be slow moving, frequently stationary or escorting large vehicles with wide, long or high loads on the highways. I doubt many motorcycles fall within...

Re: Learning the RT #5 - Counter-Steering & Overtaking Practice

You are going to be surprised; there's no average bike rider, and there's no generic IAM  Associate. It takes all sorts, which is a great thing about the biking community. Don't try too hard, relax it'll will come. It's all all about conditioned responses. Keep off the metal drain covers in...

Re: Learning the RT #5 - Counter-Steering & Overtaking Practice

I've been following your threads and your "interesting"approach to learning the RT. A lot of very helpful comments. As others have said it seems you are working from Roadcraft or How to be an Advanced Rider. Riding is learning, but coaching is the way forward. The IAM or ROSPA route is a g...

Re: Budget Tyres ?.

Ditto Cleverbee & Sprintgull.

Quality bike with budget tyres does'nt make sense.

Sounds like you'd spoil your trip to Provence.

PR4's work well for me too.

Re: Getting a round in

Like others I've recently come from K1600GTLE. The K16 is an easy comfortable ride which will hold its own in the twisties. Very smooth engine with immense power and torque. Loads of room for a pillion. A lot of bike and weight, things wear out fast. Drive train back-lash unacceptable. Very heavy to...

Re: future owner (maybe)

I too have just come from a K1600GTLE and whilst it was a great ride (and surprisingly good in the twisties) the R1200RT (mines a 2015 wet head) is loads better. The engine is super responsive and it just goes where you point it. Might be a bit tight on leg room if you are long in the leg. The bike ...
