Re: Check your Number Plates

New rules from later this year! Re: Handling Issues.

My current 1250 is the seventh RT I’ve had, one after the other! All my RT’s have handled wonderfully. The front suspension gives the bike a different feel to other bikes. Like others I suspect your tyre pressures could be wrong. I prefer Michelin PR4GT tyres on the RT & felt that Metzelers gave...

Bluetooth audio on new ‘21 RT

A question for owners of the new RT. I am used to the Nav 6 & I have it giving Bluetooth spoken turn by turn (& music) to my Schuberth M1 helmet. I understand the new RT uses your phone for navigation. I see that the TFT gives turn arrows & Bluetooth gives music & phone but I’ve seen...

Re: Sorry, it's another Oil Thread !!

To answer the original post-Yes, I’ve been using Westway Oils in my RT’s & cars for several years. They produce a wide range of the new spec. Oils needed for today’s engines.

Re: Blueing

I did it a two or three times a year from memory. I don't use it now because I have chrome pipes on my R1250RT

Re: Blueing

Yes, I used this on my last R1200RT exhaust pipes. It is acid based for use on stainless steel & titanium.
It worked remarkably well & restored the pipes to as new condition. Great stuff!

Re: R1250 GSA v R1250RT

I’ve recently brought a new R1250RT. It follows a K100, two R1100RT’s & three R1200RT’s. I’ve never ridden a GS because I can’t reach the ground! I decided, years ago, that I must be able to put both feet flat down when stopped. The RT, with low seat makes this possible. My most recent 1200RT we...

Re: Nav 5 or Nav 6?

Another difference between the Nav 5 & 6 is that the 6 receives both the US GPS satellites & the Russian GLONASS satellites. When I had my Nav 5 I found that in some mountainous areas it couldnt lock on. The Nav 5 receives only US GPS.The screen is also much better on the Nav 6, as reported ...

Re: 1250RT rear rack

Concerning the Fender Extender, I have a R1250RT & my Pyramid Plastics R1200RT Fender Extender will not fit! This is because the 1250RT has new plastic bits fitted in the exhaust area & the extender fouls these on left & right lock. These new plastic bits also funnel mud onto the engine! T...

Re: 2018 Final Drive oil specs

I just brought a new R1250RT in 2018. The manual now specs SAE 70W-80 Hypoid Axle G3 oil for the rear drive. It looks like the genuine BMW oil with this spec costs about £40 for 500ml! What can have changed inside the drive to warrant using this super expensive oil? Will the dealers still use GL5??

Re: Dashcam position

Here are some photos of my camera mounting. It is behind the screen on the RH side. I have fitted a vertical tubular anti vibration mount to stabilise the camera. It works well but if I have the windscreen set very high the screen mount obscures part of the camera image. My camera is a Firefly7S. Th...
