Re: Removing front mud guard decorative piece

UPDATE: I had looked on YouTube for a video on the subject, but found nothing. After posting here, I just tried to find a video on front wheel removal, which verified that you only have to remove the four small screws that refer to my post and Bob's your uncle, the wheel pulls straight out. I wonder...

Removing front mud guard decorative piece

I'm talking about the shiny plastic bit that sits on the very front of the mud guard, whose removal will allow the wheel to be pulled forward and out easily (??). Although I've managed to extract the front wheel without removing it, I want to try taking it off this time to avoid cracking it. There's...

Re: Caveat emptor Chinese products

Just an update, and some advice regarding installation. I got a significant discount after disputing the sale, but when I went to put on the front bars (I decided not to get the rears) it seemed that the bolt holes of the engine guards did not line up at all with the holes on the bottom center piece...

Re: Hand grip aftermarket

Just installed the regular sized Grip Pup on the throttle and it feels great. It also fits tightly over the tapered thinner OD of the inboard side of the grip. Had to use WD 40 since the soapy water didn't cut it. Strange how the minimally greater circumference makes the throttle more sensitive and ...

Ordering them now, with your "incisive" advice in mind.

Re: Hand grip aftermarket

Thanks, all. Are the regular Grip Pups OK for the RT, or will I need the "Big Paws"? Also, since the OD on the Beemer grips taper down towards the inside, will the GP's conform tightly, or do they gather a bit at the smaller end?

Hand grip aftermarket

I've been getting a painful callus at the base of my pinky from the throttle grip. I'm thinking of getting a thicker and softer replacement. Anybody know how hard it is to remove and replace the original hand grip, or if there is an aftermarket product that will fit over the existing grip? Thanks.

Instruments shroud 2009 RT

Sorry, can’t seem to upload a photo. This concerns the decorative silver-colored shroud/frame surrounding the main instrument cluster. It popped off at about 70 mph but I managed to catch it. There seems to be no method of attachment around the speedo/tack cluster. No raised tabs etc. either on the ...

Re: Tested cheap Chinese copy parts

Dr. T and David, Yeah, those bars look exactly like the ones I got, and I don’t know which German bars I saw online. I gave up on trying to get the rear bars they had promised, and accepted AliExpress’ solution of a refund of 1/2 of the price, including shipping. I immediately tried to fit the bars ...

Re: Caveat emptor Chinese products

Burridge01, I could dispute through the credit card route, but I may get the rear bars free and not have to deal with the return process andd finding another seller. If I understand them correctly, AliExpress (sorta like Amazon) has sided with me in the “item missing" dispute I initiated, and I...

Re: Tested cheap Chinese copy parts

Doctor T, I took a look at some of the Wunderlich and Motored front bars, and none of them had the under the sump frame which the bar iss attached to. It seems that they attached to with much larger bolts directly to the frame behind the front foot pegs. Not sure where the upper part attached.

Re: Tested cheap Chinese copy parts

Forgot to mention that the bolts attaching to the upper engine block are M5's, and to the oil pan are M8's. I don't know if they would even withstand a static fall without snapping off. Was that the same as the bars you bought?

Caveat emptor Chinese products

I just got ripped off by Lookie Store through AliExpress. Ordered front and back crash bars, as advertised as a package, and they only sent the front, then said I'd only ordered the front and would have to buy the rear separately, bringing the price to well over $400, while it seemed $217 was the to...

Re: Tested cheap Chinese copy parts

Doctor T, Well, this is me rueing the day I ordered a set of these bars from China. They appear identical to yours and at a comparable price (I thought), but stay away from the seller Lookie Store. Though the page says “front and rear bars“ and all of the photos show front and rear, only the front b...

Re: Motorbike rentals in the U.K.

Thanks for the input, everybody. I think I've settled on renting in France from Ride in Tours beginning the start of May. I can rent a 650 V Strom for about €2200 for four weeks. It may be an extra good deal since my buyback scheme fell through last summer and they got a windfall profit. This is muc...
