Re: SOS warning

I wonder how many folks buy an RT used, start it up and sit frozen because of the blinking "Brake Failure" light that doesn't stop until you've driven a bit before braking?  I suppose a dealer would warn you about it, but if you buy it used, the owner may have just forgotten abou...

Yes, very much this one: https://www.bmwsporttouring.com/forum/16-oilheads/

Also stick around here. But there is a really useful depth of knowledge on model specific forums such as the one I linked to above.

Re: DIY Servicing

A general question here , what is your opinion on this matter ? because of the cost of a new bike is it beneficial to carry out interim oil/filter changes or just adhere to the bikes service intervals as recommended by the dealers ? also if you carry out interim oil/filter changes yourself does thi...

Re: TFT and General stuff on the 21 R1250RT

Totally agree on the utter stupidity of the size of the rev counter. A simple bar that runs across the top of the screen would be ideal. As a user it would be good to bring forward the things that are useful to you. Sometimes that may be the average fuel consumption, other times it may be the temper...

Re: Looking for a smaller BMW tourer.

Not that familiar with older Beemer models.  I'd like one that comes with hard cases and a trunk, something like an 800cc.  I'd be buying it in France, and don't really need a long-distance tourer like my RT, and don't have time to find bags, trunks windshield, etc.  Plus...

Re: Dump keyless ignition?

Whats the issue with keyless? I've only had one problem in the last two years and that was the key coming up low battery on the dash. 1 minute job to change and the batteries are as cheap as chips. I had a keyless key fall out of a pocket during a ride. The amber key icon illuminated, but of course...

Re: Will panniers from a 2017 RT fit a BMW 1000XR?

I have an RT complete with touring panniers which I use when my wife comes away with me, I am looking at getting a second bike which I will use when I go away on my own, can I put the RT panniers onto a 2017 BMW1000XR. I am not too concerned about the looks but are the fixings in the right place? T...

Re: Windscreen rake - have you tried any mods to change screen angle?

I understand that there are many screen options out there - I know, I've tried them all as my thinner wallet can attest - and none of them are perfect for me.My complaint is turbulence and that seems to be the result of excessive distance between the trailing edge of the screen and th...

Hi all, new to the forum but not to BMWs having owned nine in the past in amongst another thirty or so other bikes and brands. Welcome to the group. I have the audio package on my RT, but the speakers were mainly annoyances for other road users, so I always play the music through my intercom. The s...
