Re: Replacement bolt enquiry

Westfield Fastners can supply Torx head with flange machine screws identical to BMW bolts, so you dont need to have allen keys.

Re: DWA warning - help needed

I have come across this. Once the inserts in the plastic start to spin you are very unlikely to get the bolts out. They will have corroded (dissimilar metals I think). You can try applying some penetrating oil to it, but you dont want any to get to teh outside of the insert. Once the oil has soaked ...

Went from 2009 RT to 2018 RT without ever having ridden one, and all online.

Re: A funny thing happened to my R1250RT....

Pulling the clutch in won't help, the engine must stop if a gear is engaged with the side stand down.

Re: 1200RT sidelights stay on

All of the above is true when there is no fault . When there was a fault, the lights stayed on. When I finally got a GS-911, it said the lights were off, when they were on. Swapping the ZFE removed the fault, and the lights behaved as they should do. Reading further up in the post the parking light ...

Re: 1200RT sidelights stay on

I never found an actual solution, however it did go away after many years, when I got the bits together to fit a relay into the sidelight wiring. I then got rid of the bike when the fuel strip went again, I have a 2018 RT now. It was definitely a fault of the ZFE module, I could meter the voltage of...

Re: GS-911 Advice please

I wonder if the functions unavailable thing is about what mode you are in. My GS-911 needs to be in infrastructure mode to access all service functions, rather than in hotspot/direct mode. It means that you need to get the module and your phone logged on to a wifi netwrok with internet access, so th...

Re: Hill Start Control

You dont need to be on an incline, it will do it anywhere. I use it at traffic lights sometimes. To engage, pull the front brake lever quite hard, you just need to bump it, and if you have just braked to a stop you do not need to release prior to bumping the lever. to release, either bump the lever ...

Re: Swapping ZFE and other woes

An update; the issue with the side lights went away (I have no idea why) and I got rid of the 09 and now have a 18 LC. First ride today!

Re: Fuel Strip

The ZFE only polls the fuels strip once every 30 seconds, and it requires 2 readings to change the level, so it always takes time to register the change of level. If you have a GS-911 you can see the heater voltage being applied and removed. I have tried the piezo trick a few times but gave up on it...

You will need to calibrate it once you change it, for which you need a GS-911 or a dealer

Ask the powder coaters to do it, they have to stop up holes all the time. They will have rubber bungs etc.

Re: Has BMW changed the turn signals to auto-cancel on completion of a turn?

There is a difference between "turns off after a fixed distance or time" and "cancels after a turn has been executed". I agree about the turns off after 300 yards thing, I started riding with IAM and was told I should be signalling at the 300 yard board, when in the past I had wa...

Re: Has BMW changed the turn signals to auto-cancel on completion of a turn?

I have been riding bikes for about 20 years, I have never had self cancelling indicators on Hondas (CB125, Hornet, CBR600, VFR750, ST1100, only for a week), Yamaha (FZR600), Kawasaki (ZXR750). Citroen used to have a design philosophy which meant they did not use stalks on the steering column, so the...
